I need ideas for an afternoon out with my 4 year old boy, just me and him. He is a bit of a geek, loves computer games and is quite sensitive in a way. I just can't think where we should go. I owe him some 1:1 time because his older brother gets plenty and I am taking his twin sister to 'my first sleeping beauty' ballet

Any ideas?

Does he like dinosaurs? This looks fun and local...

24. Crystal Palace Park Dinosaurs

I?ll admit it's not what you?d expect to find in a south London park but this was where the Great Exhibition of 1851 (that took place in Hyde Park) moved its huge glass building to, hence the name 'Crystal Palace'. During the park's renovations, Professor Richard Owen created these giant dinosaur sculptures in 1852 based on the best scientific information available but many now giggle at the 'anatomically incorrect' dinosaurs. I wasn't around at the time so can't comment. There's a free dinosaur audio trail to enhance your visit and the park has lots more to see including a playground, cafe, go-karts, a farm, a museum, a boating lake and a sphinx, plus you can see the remains/site of the crystal palace.

Science museum - lots of things to push and illuminate etc.

Downstairs for packed lunch and general mad behaviour.

S Ken tube or maybe a bus that could take in some "sights" en route and kill two birds with one stone?

Changing of the Guard? During the week obviously so might well not work.

We haven't done this (yet) but I met the woman who runs it in Canary Wharf last week and it sounded great. We are thinking of taking our son to do it when the rain has abated slightly (although the organiser did say the walk is partly under cover so not terrible for a rainy day).
