Before you consider a total career change, are you really passionate about counselling still? Sometimes it's a case of doing it in a different way e.g. group counselling.

Before you think about career paths it's important to think about what you want from work e.g. the hours, location, colleagues, boss etc. But also, what is the experience you're looking for. This is the foundation for any career decision. It's all about why you do what you do. That's what I say to all my career coaching clients.

I hope you manage to work it out. If not, seek help. Isolation is a dreamkiller!

Some very good ideas here. I totally understand the exhausting nature of your current job so I think that the suggestion of reducing hours and trying other options out is a great one. I have been looking for a couple of years now but am having great difficulty getting back into working life. I was unlucky in terms of the recession so I don't want you to make the same mistake!
