Months ago I threw my cleaning routine out of the window and our 2 bed flat is pretty awful at the moment. As I have not got the momentum to tackle this I am after a company which does a spring clean to start me off again.

I have not posted this in the services section because I am after a recommendation. I have already contacted a local agency which has quoted me ?250 which sounds pretty steep to me? (our flat consists of one living room, 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, one bathroom and one hallway) They did say that I would get 5 cleaners and that it would take about an hour. This works out at ?50/hour per cleaner, which makes me think that I am being taken for a bit of a ride. For this amount I could get my old cleaner back for ?25 hours (and I am not calling her back because she was pretty rubbish). Even if I paid her double ?20/hour this would still entitle me to 12 hours, so I am pretty annoyed at the ?250 for 1 hour I have been quoted (even for a team of 5 cleaners). Or am I missing something?

Thanks!

I looked into similar a few years ago, and like you was pretty shocked by the prices (?400+ was the quote I got for our 5 bed house, needless to say I didn't go ahead!).

I think the problem is that agencies charge a hefty fee, especially if you don't already use them to provide you with a weekly cleaner. Much cheaper to hire someone directly, but then you run the risk of them being rubbish!

Sorry, no solution, but I will watch with interest. We have a cleaner but I would like a "deep clean" done to tackle all the little things that get missed and start to add up. If there were 12 more hours in a day I'd do it myself, but I never seem to get time.

Hi Ole, my cleaner is looking for extra work and is absolutely excellent. I pay her ?10 per hour. I am sure she could get your flat sorted out in a couple of 3 hour sessions - she really works hard and has very high standards. Would you like me to ask her if she'd be interested? She does our large 3 bed house in 3 hours, including bed changing, and it was pretty dirty when she first started with us as we had had building works going on for months.

    • Community Notice Boards were  set up by councillors for the local community to advertise their meetings etc. Originally these had padlocks and keys were given to local community groups i.e Tenants and Residents' Association. Our T&RA used to advertise our meetings, AGMs, social activities, public meetings (i.e. hustings) Give and Take events, Southwark Council run groups/events. Unfortunately the padlocks were broken and boards vandalised. Our T&RA managed to get the Lordship Lane (Small Sainsbury) one refurbished and one in Underhill Road. However, it took ages for our local councillor to discover where the keys to these padlocks were left. We had 2 people from our T&RA who regularly posted details of events and activities in the East Dulwich Community Centre. The padlocks were again broken, and various flyers were posted which rarely had any connection with the area. We have a lady, in her 80s, who several times a year still goes round posting details of our and EDCCs activities, Look out for posters announcing the next Give and Take in February, our T&RAs AGM in April.
    • As most customers going to M&S do not get there via North Cross Road and most people going down North Cross Road are not going to M&S that's not really surprising

If the system fails to proceed past the logo screen, it could indicate that the BIOS/UEFI cannot locate or access the bootable operating system. This is often due to:  If the drive has failed then  the BIOS won't find the necessary files to load the OS.  Even if the SSD is operational, bootloader corruption could cause the same issue.  Misconfigured boot order or settings in the BIOS/UEFI might prevent booting.   Diagnosing SSD Failure: To confirm whether the SSD is the problem: Enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a key like F2, DEL, or ESC during startup). Check if the SSD is detected in the storage or boot section. Run any available diagnostics tools in the BIOS. If the SSD isn't recognized, it's likely failed or has a loose connection. Alternatively, you can boot the system using a live USB or external OS to verify SSD accessibility.
