UPDATE: Clean needed ANY DAY THIS WEEK!

Recommended Posts

I need a fabulous cleaner for Tues 16th July in the ED/ Peckham area.

3 bedroom flat. Currently has very little furniture and very few belongings so should make the clean easier. The floors are tiled. Would be also good to clean the fridge/ freezer (empty) and potentially the oven. Kitchen and bathroom cupboards (all empty) need a clean too.

Basically a good scrub in preparation for moving in.

I estimate 4/5 hours.

If the cleaner could bring products and cleaning equipment then all the better but otherwise I can provide basics.

Any recommendations or takers? A quote would be useful.

I use emop on an ad hoc basis and have always been happy with the service

You can book directly online and they will give you a quote but you will be charged by the minute so if the cleaner finishes early or late, you just pay accordingly

Thanks I?ll look into emop. I?ve been hoping to get a few quotes. I had the impression from EDF that there are zillions of cleaners looking for work but I?ve not had much interest and people haven?t responded to my replies to their messages

Thank-you to everyone that private messaged me about this job.

Unfortunately I got my fingers burned and money lost with a rather unpleasant interaction with a cleaner who responded. Thank-you also to those who sent helpful messages in response to this.

So I don't want to let it put me off all EDF cleaners.

I will still be looking for someone to do a one off clean- next week I'd say.

I will respond to peoples private messages and posts.

  • 2 weeks later...

As an update, I'm pleased to say the clean got done! I decided to go with emop (thanks for the recommendation Smiley)as, following the upsetting incident/ issue with the other cleaner I originally contacted (a different thread), I decided to go with an actual company rather than an individual.

I wouldn't want to be suspicious of individuals offering their services on EDF, and will continue to use the forum for this purpose in the future.

I have learnt some lessons based on what happened and subsequent issues in my other thread. Always do a good search on EDF for comments etc before booking someone for a job (that's partly why a forum is helpful!). And of course always be cautious about paying money up front. Plus perhaps the biggest thing, be very cautious about giving personal details to someone from the forum. These are probably pretty obvious guidelines to follow but I got burnt and learnt.

Emop were great and very reasonable :-)

    • Did I wake up in some parallel universe - listened in to Keir's press conference today and he was saying immigration was out of control, the Tories had been running an Opens Borders Experiment and his party were going to get on top of it.....sounded very much like a right-wing Tory pitch....;-) Also, does the ONS not have an element of responsibility - these are, after all, their figures that are being continually revised - is their data collection/analysis robust? Or is the suggestion that there was political interference in the numbers that were being published by the Tories?   Did I wake up in some parallel universe - listened in to Keir's press conference today and he was saying immigration was out of control and his party were going to get on top of it.....sounded very much like a Tory pitch.... Also, as much as he is trying to pin this on the Tories does the ONS not have an element of responsibility - these are, after all, their figures. Or is the suggestion that there was political interference in the numbers that were being published?
    • So you're next line of attack is so start making it personal, carry on, eventually you'll get thrown out of here.  Thought you'd given up with me, but you can't let go.  Me and 2.86M people are all fed up with the pigs ear Starmer and his motley crew of things and want a change. The red witch has cast a wicked spell over the entire country and left us all in an even worse mess than before.  We need the wolf gone man.
    • Must you be so humourless Jester?  you jumped on someone for a typo, so he was just playing with you   "t's Jazzer, not Jezzer." "Why does Starmer continually blame the last Govt, now for immigration figures, can't he get on with the job in hand instead of using the same old line blaming the Conservatives, it becomes boring, " a - because the tories continued to use the same line on labour 14 years after the 2010 election b - because it has the benefit of being true whilst opposition try and paint him as someone who should have fixed everything in 5 months when they hadn't done any of it in 14 years    Someone is a joke here but I doubt you will ever see it More seriously tho - he isn't WRONG to blame the last govt but he doesn't convince that he is going to do anything different Prime Ministers of any hue decreeing "we will drastically reduce the numbers" begs the question "how?" (assuming that you think it's a priority - I don't really -  But I get that many people get SUPER angry about this) But UK would need  to spend a lot of money setting up proper border posts and processing centres, move genuine arrivals thru quickly and work with other countries (again - major problem of Brexit and nothing Starmer says he will concede any red lines - so good luck with that) - National ID cards for everyone  would also help track arrivals but English people seems to be dead set against those What won't work is leaving the ECHR, throwing red meat to right wingers or cod-schemes like Rwanda
    • At least they attended and seemed to be doing something, and something is better than nothing.
