Hi,

Please can anyone recommend a company/business/anyone with the capabilities, who has the know how and equipment to lift a sofa through a first floor window. Having recently moved into a new flat, my new sofa has been delivered but will not fit through the door, so needs to be lifted into living room through the window.

Urgent and desperate for help... any advice would be very welcome

Thank you

Camilla

I have done this before. You need a ladder, one long length of rope and a blanket/cover. Place the ladder to cill level at first floor. Two people first floor holding each end of the rope, third person at ground floor. Slacken the rope from first floor window - wrap arounnd back of sofa at ground level - use cover to stop rope marks on sofa - lean sofa up on end against ladder then gently and slowly pull the sofa up the ladder at an angle - the person on ground floor simply keeps it straight. Depending on window size a fourth person maybe required to hold the sofa prior to sliding it through the window. It is a quick job but takes a few hands and concentration.
