Recommended Posts

Hi there

Due to unprecedented demand for places for our "sold out" Filmmaking Summer School, we've just added an extra facilitator from Chocolate Films Workshops which means we can add a 4th "crew" of 10 students, 5 places have already gone and we have 5 still remaining! Read on for full details below and please get in touch ASAP if you are interested for your child/teen...

We?d like to tell you about our new FILMMAKING WORKSHOP, taking place at SYDENHAM SCHOOL this summer!

We are working in association with CHOCOLATE FILMS, to present ?SCRIPT TO SCREEN?, an exciting FILMMAKING WORKSHOP, in which your child/teen will learn how to SCRIPT, ACT, SHOOT and EDIT their own movie, alongside some of London?s leading filmmakers!

?SCRIPT TO SCREEN? SUMMER WORKSHOP

MONDAY 5 ? FRIDAY 9 AUGUST 2019

Sydenham School (main school hall and on location around the site)

Dartmouth Road, London, SE26 4RD

10am ? 4pm each day

For ages 7-16 years (working in film crews split by age)

CHOCOLATE FILMS WORKSHOPS, based in Battersea, is a UK leader in the training of filmmaking and media skills. They run a range of projects with schools, colleges, broadcasters and leading arts organisations including The National Gallery, TATE, Barbican and The National Maritime Museum. All their workshops are facilitated by practicing film makers from CHOCOLATE FILMS, an award winning video production company based in London and Glasgow.

Running over 5 days, the ?SCRIPT TO SCREEN? workshop will provide your child/teen with in-depth training from professionals using high quality equipment. The workshop will provide valuable experience in acting on camera, directing a short film drama and production design on a shoe-string!

In film crews split by age, participants will have the opportunity to take on various roles such as director, script writer, actor, camera operator, sound person and editor to name a few!

The workshop will be held in the safe environment of Sydenham School, home to our term-time Saturday School, based in the main school hall, but also shooting on location in and around the school site!

A copy of the final film produced by each film crew will be sent to all participants via We Transfer at the end of the workshop.

    • Bought a mattress with amazing reviews on the Mattressman website last year but it didn’t work for me. The exchange process was smooth and after selecting a few I went up to Stevenage 😬 for the day to try the mattresses in the shop. Best decision ever! Ended up buying a Sealy one with no reviews and I absolutely love it every single night (I have severe back issues). Mattresses are a personal thing so from my experience just make sure you try and see what your body says 😊
    • Oh dear, sorry 😭 Always different opinions on a forum!
    • The Vispring mattresses are good but very expensive and extremely heavy, so heavy that I couldn’t  turn the one I had bought in a sale at Arding & Hobbs, Clapham Junction, before they closed down.   I think I paid about £500 for the whole bed as it had been a former display model.     As said above, do have a look at the Dunlopillo beds -  they are made of latex, which is very different to memory foam.  If they still make them, see if you can find a pillow top version.  A friend of mine bought that version. She loves it.  Bought from a shop in Bristol.   Lots of furniture stores sell Dunlopillo, but evidently not John Lewis anymore.  You really need to go round various stores and try out different mattresses.  A sprung base also makes a big difference.
