Jeremy
I actually don't think it's as bad as most of you make out, but I don't think it's particularly cheap. woodie
meat burgers i dont care about. but what annoys me is if i go there with friends who do, the option for me is shite. In new york for example there are non meat burgers that are so awesome you cant believe it. They are a different breed to anything you see here (i should import them!). so, be great to think some joint with a name like 'gourmet burger kitchen' could be up with the times and include something like what im suggesting.A few mushrooms pinned together in a bread roll with chutney or whatever sucks. MadWorld74
I'm hearin' ya Woodie. I'm a veggie and have to hold back the tears of anger when I go there to eat with Mr. MW74 who tucks gleefully into his meat attack on a plate burger.I guess, I must go to NYC to get a decent burger. I'll put it to Mr. MW74 later....seeif he's up for paying! citizenED
sean, there is a thread about the place here GOURMET BURGERS. Have a scan and you'll see who is not impressed. I've always enjoyed myself when I've been there. Some people on here are exraordinarily fussy when it comes to eating out. perhaps the company they keep is so uninspiring that they have to concentrate on the food ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2298-gourmet-burger-kitchen/#findComment-66375 Share on other sites

Scottfield
As a really charming "ethnic" alternative, try Morley's on Rye Lane.We went there and got 2 burgers, fried (each!) and drinks and it came to ?6.50DELICIOUS! Jeremy
If I could buy the same burger in a nice pub for a quid or two less, I'd think it was pretty good. Louisa
seanmlow, ?20 for two burgers and a plate of chips and two drinks... My god what is this world coming to? You could buy some decent burgers and potatoes and make that at home for less than a fiver.. I dont understand the fascination with what is basically just fast food at expensive prices. Go to Mcdonalds or Burger King if you want take-away style cheap food, dont go to a place thats pretentious and tries to make what is a simple inexpensive and relatively unhealthy food option sound like a dinner! Brendan
I must say that I have had a burger in just about every place in ED that offers them. GBK, Liquorice, The Bishop et al. But for pure enjoyment none of them have come close a Whopper with Cheese on an empty stomach. I still wouldn?t want a bloody Burger King in ED though. I know where they are when I want them. Michael Palaeologus
I think a better use of the Foxtons building would have been for a food-court containing KFC, BurgerKing and Pizza Hut - thus dealing with all food groups.I have to, when pushed, it is hard to be beat a Whopper with cheese. Keef
I prefer their XL Bacon double cheese burger! Is it just me, or have burger king closed half of their branches? I've noticed at least 5 closed in the last 6 months, including the one near my work which is rather annoying! Louisa
this is very true, but lets face it.. These people who go to GBK dont go there cos they like burgers, they go there cos its expensive fashionable pretentious and out of the price range of the filth who prefer to eat a burger the way it was meant to be eaten! lolLouisa. seanmlow
Louisa -I think 'filth' applies to those frequenting places like Burger King where the servers scratch their balls before serving your chips! jimbo1964
I'd hardly call it fashionable, prentious or particularly expensive. I think the food's ok but I don't like having to order at the counter and pay up front. It's a pain when you want another round drinks as you have to queue again. Louisa
i'd rather have someone scratch their unspoken region before serving my burger and chips than end up paying ?20 for a bit of meat between a split bun x2 thanks very much!Louisa.
