sallyfran
How many of you play a musical instrument? East Dulwich seems to be full of musicians and I wondered about setting up some kind of list of people who might be interested in getting together to play for pleasure now and then. My interest is mostly in classical music. I played piano as a child and reached Grade 8 and started learning cello in mid-life - probably around Grade 6 level. If there's enough interest I'll set up some mechanism where you could register your details. Keef
Trumpet (formerly grade 8, but wouldn't like to think how rusty I'd be now), Guitar, bass, lots of singing in different styles. mlteenie
Guitar (mainly electric) but also bass. University of Rock. I am usually wary of such suggestions due to much disappointment. I suppose it would depend on what and how you are saetting it up. Good luck. Pickle
Thanks guys, I've dropped the SCB an email. Worth a try! If I had my time over again I'd play something slightly less over-subscribed!!! KalamityKel
Pickle... the SBC rehearse every Thursday 7:45-10pm (resuming this week, 10th, after the xmas break). I've been with them for the last 10 years. You may find yourself on the waiting list for the Flute section but they usually welcome you along to a few rehearsals as a taster. Jeremy
I play drums too... as well as keyboards, saxophone, guitar (and a bit of bass I guess). Just joined a band recently, but always up for getting together with local types for jamming and similar experimentation. Keef
Have just posted the following in the wanted section, but thought I'd put it here too.We are a new covers / function band, born out of the music at my wedding. The idea is to have the fun of playing music, and make a few quid at the same time. We currently have Guitar, drums, bass, 2 trumpets, trombone, male and female vocals. We are playing all sorts, from soul, to rock, to pop. It his all going really well, we're getting gigs, and are very pleased with our progress. The one thing that we feel could improve us is a good keyboard player, as that would open up loads of new possibilities! We were thinking a female who could do some backing vocals would be ideal, but at the end of the day, if you can play well, then your gender / singing ability really doesn't matter! One thing that is important is that you have your own keyboards, as the only one I have isn't really up to the quality that we are after. We have the PA that it could go through, so amps aren't so important. We are all experienced musicians, and we are taking this very seriously, so we're not looking to waste anyones time. If you're interested, PM me on here, or call Matt on 07920556331 and tell him you're responding to Keith's ad. Keef
Seriously, sax could be very useful. The drummer plays a bit, and is often saying he would love some sax in the band! I do have a keyboard which isn't bad, but I'd like someone with a proper good one with all sorts of decent symph sounds. That way we could play loads of 80's, Killers, all sorts!
