mockney piers
You should go up north, it's a point of pride there, no hugging themselves or looking cold. I do wonder how they manage when I've got a hat, scarf and gloves on a night out on the Tyne, and they're wandering around happily in underwear.I'm guessing copious amounts of Bacardi Breezer helps. barrymarshall
House prices!Front page of the Times Online this morning: house price growth slowest for a decade. Font page of Guardian Online: Prices up as 2007 ends ... every single day there is a story about house prices or mortgages. Enough!Similarly, I am sick and tired of the endless news stories about how we haven't shopped enough this Xmas, the High Street has been hit badly, M&S profits are down, Next sales are down. So what? Are we supposed to feel guilty? Because if we are, why then the next day do we read stories about how we are overburdened with debts, and how this is disastrous for the economy, etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2294-ive-had-enough-of/page/6/#findComment-67067 Share on other sites
Brendan
House Prices! I know what you mean. I?ve had enough of people talking about them constantly. In the fucking pub, at parties, around the dinner table! Enough already, I?ve got a house, you?ve got a house. This is a nice thing as neither of us gets wet when we are sleeping. Now can you shut the fuck up about it and talk about something interesting! Or is that all you got? Brendan
It would be fine if you didn't pay ?3.50 for a beer, ?9 for a burger and ?300 000 for your 2 bed flat. These privilages seem to be the reserve of those of us living in London. *Bob*
Why is owning your own home assumed to be some sort of 'right'?It isn't. It's no more your 'right' to own your own home than it is to own six cars, or go on holiday eight times a year. Brendan
It all depends on the overall housing strategy of the country you live in. Owning a home may not be a right but for many people it is a necessity. But I?m not flogging this horse again. lozzyloz
My first proper weekly wage was ?17.50 (?910 pa) and ?8 was gobbled up by the rent on a shared flat in West Hampstead. Brendan
My first job was 15 years ago as a lifeguard in South Africa and I got paid 3.50 South African Rands an hour. I worked 30 hours a week which meant I got R105 a week. Which converted to Pounds at the current exchange rate (which I know isn?t relevant but this is just for fun) is ?7.73. Which all works out to a grand total of ?401.96 a year. I did however get to sit around in the sun all day and look at girls in bikinis.
