Opening up a fireplace - advice wanted

Hi - I want to open the fireplace that has been boxed in for years in a bedroom. Not sure what I'll find behind it.

Guessing I need a builder to do it but it shouldn't be a big job.

Pix attached - depending on what's behind it - will either leave as is and tidy up, replace fireplace or might remove and tidy up to form alcove space with no fireplace but just a surround/mantlepiece

if anyone has any advice / or can recommend someone to do the work or pix to show what they've done in similar sitautions that would be great.

  Another recommendation for Will Westwood and the Goose Green clinic. I've been going to him for some time for ongoing support with headaches and neck pain and it's been so helpful. Things have gradually improved for me and I always leave each session feeling much better. He also helped me with some elbow issues, giving me easy to follow exercises to work on in between sessions.   Have a look at the information and advice on the Information Commissioner's website: https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/home-cctv-systems/ . There has also been some caselaw regarding cctv and Ring doorbells/cameras overlooking neighbouring properties i.e. Fairhurst v Woodward from October 2021 (law firm summary of case: https://www.saunders.co.uk/news/gdpr-vs-ring-doorbells-infringement-of-privacy-or-reasonable-safety-precautions/). I do have a copy of the decision somewhere, if I can find it I'll add it.
