Has anyone created a soundproofing structure in their house?

Any advice gratefully received. With three kids learning instruments including the drums I'd love to sound proof a room so they can make as much noise as they want!

Previous owners of my house had ?soundproofed? a ground floor room by fitting a suspended ceiling, and filling the void with loads of roof insulation. Absolutely useless as far as I can tell, didn?t muffle much at all. So that?s how not to do it :)
