Six of us enjoyed a Delicoius meal at Xoco Bar and Grill..

The food at this new addition to Lordship Lane is truely delightful and our Indian choices unlike anywhere else on the lane.

The service at Xoco is superb and the attention to detail is so good.

I personally would like to reccomend this new addition to all. Give this place a go.

Comlimentary Naan bread with Olives.. Hummus and Sun dried Tomatoes served pre meal..

My starter was The Falafel Onion Bhaji as pictured below..

Delightful stone-based serving platters actually.

Food was indeed excellent. A contemporary take on the curry.

Its a shame more people don't try it. I think the menu doesn't help. Its a bit too eclectic and maybe gives the impression that there is too much going on for any of it to be excellent.

This is simply not the case.

So,give Xoco a chance, you will be rewarded.

Just to echo what Mike and Foxy have said ? the food here is really very good indeed. A significant step up from the usual Indo-Bangla fare (to which I'm partial, to be honest). Vibrant spices and flavours, great ingredients and very attentive service. Couldn't fault it.

But... and it's big 'but'. Their menu offering is currently very confusing (as is their name) and I fear many people won't give them a chance. They should ditch everything on the menu that isn't South Asian. And probably get rid of the big cokctail list too and soften the lighting a bit. Their food is more than good enough to shout from the rooftops that it's the best Indian fare on Lordship Lane.

I'm not trying highjack the thread. I certainly don't want to diss a new restaurant that I haven't tried yet either. I'm merely pointing out that eating anything off such a platter can't be healthy. Give me a proper plate any day.

Yep... get rid of the silly slates, get rid of the burgers, and concentrate on good contemporary south Asian.. lots of tasty grill/tandoor things and seafood options... get a couple of interesting beers in, maybe. Sounds like the basics are there, but needs a bit of refining to tune into what people really want.

To be honest. I didn't even know he was in there until someone told me this morning. Too busy troughing expensive popodoms and giant madagaskan prawns. I do remember a lot of waiters ushering someone through, but took no notice.

Thanks for your interest RD - much obliged.

Three bhajis for a starter? Seems like a large portion or do you share?

I really enjoyed my meal! The flavours of the spices and herbs were perfectly balanced and the presentaton was excellent. Only the starter came on a stone platter. The other courses were served on stylish plates. Service was attentive and the chef came out to check that everything was OK. Top notch!! Will be eating at Zoco again very soon. Do give them a try.

Too many onion bhajis is a nice problem to have as far as I'm concerned.

As for the slate... I think we can all agree it's a bit pass?, but if the food's OK, have a bit of a joke about it and move on...
