Goodness me, what is going on with this practice? It is a huge space with barely any doctors? How can this be allowed?

It is impossible to get an appointment within a reasonable time, do they not have a duty of care to the community they are meant to be serving?

Looking forward to the new medical centre opening on the Dulwich Hospital site.

I've been suffering with an eating disorder & severe panic attacks, bouncing from place to place for the past 4 years. I wish I could find the quality of service I only ever get from Guy's A&E. I can't tell you how many times I've been misdiagnosed at Nunhead, which have plenty of doctors, but have left me with no choice but to do my own research online. Unfortunately I can't go to The Gardens surgery as it was previously owned by a close relative & have another close relative working there still (hence why I was kicked off the list). Many of the good doctors I used to see at The Gardens have left but I believe there are still a couple of good ones (which is more than I can say for Nunhead).

- I know this sounds a little off topic in regards to your initial post but my point is that even the surgeries with plenty of doctors seem pretty unqualified to be working in this field & makes me wish I followed my relatives footsteps in becoming a doctor myself.

If you have complaint about your GP surgery make a complaint to them.

If for whatever reason you don't feel able ot complaint directly with your GP surgery then email complaints or indeed compliments to - [email protected] or call them on 0300 311 22 33 during normal office hours.

Hi James

I have made a complaint to them, and spoke to the practice manager there today. They seem very disorganised and do not have clear protocols for phone calls/messages etc, she did not seem at all interested until I reminded her they have a duty of care to patients. She did sort it all out quickly then

Hi 1921,

The last time I was involved as an East Dulwich Councillor DMC agreed an action plan with NHS England and it was tracked through to successful completion.

If it casques you continuing problems please complaint to NHS England.

I cannot understand myself how such a big place, has very few patients in the waiting room and very few drs lately...Also I am very angry that Dr ward for the second year running is on a year leave again... You get to see him he sends you for tests and then he?s gone, and he?s been our hope to get to the bottom of it..Most of the drs in there are new all the time . Why have a dr that is off for so long ....

Applepears, I couldn't agree more, where are the doctors, who is filling the consulting rooms??

I spoke to Dr Ward before he left, I did not get the impression he is returning this time, but perhaps I misunderstood.

I do hope you get some answers with your test and someone in the practice has taken over your case.

Hey James,

I complained about my surgery to nhs England & was told to complain directly to my gap through their complaints procedure.

I went back to my gp, emailed asking for their complaints procedure & I'm still waiting for a reply!

Due to time constraints in life, it is impossible to keep onto them.

It has been a few months tbh since I got in touch with my gap......

I will probably have abit more time on my hands after September when I hope to Perdue the matter.

All in all I personally think everything is going up, bills, costs etc but the service is going way downhill!

The wonderful and caring Dr P sadly suffered a serious injury and is currently in the process of recovery. Our thoughts are with her, the best Dr in Dulwich.

The practice has been renegotiating the terms of pay with their locums and so for the past two months appointments have been cancelled a day before, or even the same day it's utter chaos. One of the decent locums has decided to stay on for the time being, but that's not saying much.

Natty01295, how can you suggest that the *whole* of the NHS is in a terrible mess? My family has had some poor experiences of the service but very many experiences have been first rate.

Would you prefer to have a totally privatised health service akin to that in the USA, something that the likes of Jeremy Hunt has suggested?

Hey, I hope you're well. I'm sorry for the out of the blue message. I'm an Assistant Producer at a TV production company called TwoFour and we are producing a new series offering people the chance to see experts, possible treatment and to have a chat about their skin conditions. If you'd be interested in applying please email [email protected] or if you'd like to have a phone chat before applying let me know and I?ll give you a ring to fill you in. Additionally, if you have any friends or family who may be interested please help us spread the word. Thanks so much. Katie x

We were with the Dulwich Medical Centre for about 25 years. We have recently moved just out of their catchment area so had to change surgeries. We are now with Brockwell Park Surgery and can?t believe how good the surgery are compared with DMC. You can get an appt quite easily, the staff are so nice and professional. I have to have regular injections every 3 months, I had my injection today and was able to book the next one in 3 months time, at DMC they would never book for more than 2 weeks ahead. My husband is being treated for cancer so has to have regular injections which they have at the surgery ready for him when he arrives. At DMC he had to pick his own injections up at the chemist and 9 times out of 10 the surgery hadn?t sent the prescription request to the chemist. I now see just how bad DMC are and thankfully we are now with a better surgery with better patient care.

    • Just last week I received cheques from NS&I. I wasn't given the option of bank transfer for the particular transaction. My nearest option for a parcel pick up point was the post office! The only cash point this week was the post office as the coop ATM was broken.   Many people of whatever age are totally tech savvy but still need face to face or inside banking and post office services for certain things, not least taking out cash without the worry of being mugged at the cash point.    It's all about big business saving money at the expense of the little people who, for whatever reason, still want or need face to face service.   At least when the next banking crisis hits there won't be anywhere to queue to try and demand your money back so that'll keep the pavements clear.
    • I think it was more amazement that anyone uses cheques on a large enough scale anymore for it to be an issue.    Are cheque books even issued to customers by banks anymore? That said government institutions seem to be one of the last bastions of this - the last cheque I think I received was a tax rebate in 2016 from HMRC.  It was very irritating.
    • I know you have had a couple of rather condescending replies, advising you to get to grips with technology and live in the modern world. I sympathise with you. I think some of us should try to be a bit more empathetic and acknowledge not everyone is a technophile. Try to see things from a perspective that is not just our own. Also, why give the banking sector carte blanche to remove any sort of human/public facing role. Is this really what we want?
