ChavWivaLawDegree
Do you have a vehicle to bring them, or would I have to wheel my barrow, down streets broad and narrow, to colect them? ChavWivaLawDegree
I've arranged to pick up my chickens on Sunday and I'm so excited. I'm not sure if I'll get 3 or 4, I'll ask the farmer how big they get.I've gone for the White Leghorn because they are ready now and they are good layers. This is what they look like apparentlyhttp://lalithfarms.com/images/whiteleghorn.jpgBut I'll post pics of mine when I get them. ChavWivaLawDegree
haha that was funny on about 3 levels there!! Unless you didn't intend it to be layer of horse manure, then it's only 2. Peckhamgatecrasher
Chav, manure is free from the Southern Railway Stables in Bermondsey - you have to take your own sacks. I think they charge for it at Dulwich stables. Make sure it is at least several months old and well rotted or it will scorch what you plant. ChavWivaLawDegree
it's 50p a bag in Dulwich and it's ready bagged so not too bad. I'll leave it in the bags to sweat for a bit to make sure it's not too raw. ChavWivaLawDegree
I got my chickens today, but can't upload the pics. They are great and despite all your doom-mongering, the dogs didn't even bark at them. Yallas whined a bit but Hannibal sniffed them and wagged his tail. they settled in nicely and I just hope my fox-proofing will prove to be truly fox-proof.Big thankyou to hundredandone for all his help. And if you're excited now then wait till you get some eggs. Maybe we should hatch a plan to form a chicken group. Any other takers??
