Live in au pair sought from September

Recommended Posts

We are a young professional family living in Sydenham (SE26). My 5.5 year old son attends Harris Primary on Crystal Palace Road and our current au pair will sadly return to Switzerland at the end of the summer term to resume her studies. We are therefore hoping to secure somebody new from September 2019 for up to 1 year (minimum 2 terms).

What we offer

Our au pair has a bright, modern double room to herself with ample storage and a view of the garden. We consider her a member of the family and she eats most of her meals with us, some of which she offers to cook, which is a lovely bonus. In addition to food and board, she receives ?75 per week pocket money when my son is with us (for the holiday time that he is visiting his father, she is not paid but everything else remains the same). I have experience as a TEFL teacher and actively support her with her English language development, as well as including her in family activities so that she gets the most out of her time with us. We have welcomed her family to come and stay with us a couple of times throughout her time here and have a spare room to accommodate such visits.

What we ask

Our au pair's day starts at 7am when she gets my little boy dressed and ready for school. He has breakfast at home and then they catch the 176 bus down to the school. The time between 8.45am and 3.20pm is her own to study or socialise, and she's back on duty to collect him from school and care for him until 7pm when my partner and I get home. The hours after school consist of 3 blocks of fun time, educational play, and dinner/getting ready for bed. The weekends are her own, save for the fact that we ask for 2 nights per week babysitting which may include a Friday or Saturday night. She helps us by doing her own and my son's washing and generally being conscientious in our home, helping me to keep it clean and tidy.

We are happy to consider people of all ages, genders and backgrounds. We only ask that applicants already have a right to work as an au pair in the UK. If you or anyone you know would be interested to hear more about us or what we're looking for, please do drop me a direct message.

    • All good to hear. Cheers BNG If I’m honest, those fliers give off very bland corporate energy   also. Shouldn’t it be a relaunch party instead of a launch party?    hopefully I’m wrong and it’s great
    • The good news is that the Blythe's new leaseholder is Austin Whelan, who runs a chain of very decent Irish pubs, mainly in south London. By all accounts, he has no intention of making any major changes. It reopened last week.
    • A builder said that to me once! What I should have said (but thought of it too late) was that given that I was paying him to do a job, I expected that my glass would be full, not half full 🤣 But yes, you are right in this instance!
    • Just had a flyer through the door. Posting here for people who haven't had theirs yet. The 50% off food is for three days only, and advance bookings only. I liked the EDT as it used to be, so I really hope the changes won't be too massive. Last time I looked through the window the bar seemed to be still in the same place, but who knows. Think I'll wait a bit to try the food. When The Lordship launched, we went for a meal there and let's say things didn't go smoothly 😂 Anybody who was there will know what I mean 😂 They have redeemed themselves since, I hasten to add 😂
