Unbelievable - one week and four hours later and my house is plunged into electro-absence again.

Have reported it to UK PowerNwetwork.

Anyone else experiencing it? Just had an automated text to say "it's a substation fault" - which is what the texts said last time - albeit they were 48 hours late i arriving.sigh!!!!!!!!!

Likewise. On the bright side, I have now received two texts actually on the date of the incident. Progress!

I'm told it may take a few "blowings" of the fuse at the substation In order for the cable fault to show up on the diagnostic equipment. So in anticiaption of further cuts, I'm thinking of buying more candles and a wind up radio in preparation. And putting all of my solar lights out in the back garden!

It's like the 70s all over again. Will be queueing for bread next!

Me too, underhill rd for second week running. Quite funny to realise I can't report it since my landline doesn't work when the base station has no power! Anyone any idea how long its likely to last? Last week I think it was only a few hours? This can't be good for my tv!
Yeah I got text messages and even a phone call from Kevin. It came back on at 1.30am when I was jolted awake on the setee with all the lights on and the TV blaring. I'll brace myself next Sunday but if Frazzy misses Wild at Heart again I won't be held responsible for the consequences
Keep track of when your power cuts are and how long they last. If you end up suffering 4 lasting more than 3 hours each over the course of a 12 month period, then you're entitled to claim ?54 back from the power company. They keep it fairly quiet and generally just talk about compensation after 1 18 hour outage but it's usually buried somewhere on their website - oh yes, and you need to claim for it. It won't just show up.

Ooh yes - I've just looked this up on the British Gas website (my electricity supplier).

The documentation says the 4 cuts have to occur between 1st April and 31st March (...!) to be eligible. So if it's going to happen, let's hope it happens in the next 19 days! Otherwise, they'll get off scot free :( What's the betting there's only one more power cut before 1st April and then another one ON 1st April. Talk about April Fools...

Here's what BG's doc says:

    • Agree but not so great for the independently owned cafes shops etc.
    • My husband goes to the newish one near the Watchpolisher on Lordship Lane.(sorry cant remember name-) I can assure you they're not 'fake'  He started going there because his excellent long-term barber had to rent a chair there when the shop he used to work from in Forest Hill closed. I think one needs to be careful when making statements like that above as it can damage reputable buisnesses. Also I should add the Barbers I mention always seems to be busy
    • Hey are these two keys with no keyring? I lost them a while back so not sure if they will be the same!
    • Another glowing review for Julian!! I am now referring to Julian as ‘the legend’. I had spent 5 years waiting until I could afford to get some cupboards built in, and I couldn’t be happier. I am often allergic to overbearing advice when it comes to work I have commissioned and am paying for, but I found Julian’s advice so helpful. He offered his opinion about my plans in a very constructive way, and helped me come up with a much better plan. His ideas were better than mine! Not something I usually like to admit. The work was exemplary, and he cleared up beautifully. He was communicative and a pleasure to deal with. I am so delighted with my cupboards and floating shelves. He doesn’t paint them, but I think that is better, as it’s a specialist job, and it means you can either save money and paint them yourself, or get a painter and decorator to paint them properly. He is a brilliant carpenter. The only problem now is that I have so much more hanging space thanks to his advice, that I may not get rid of all the old clothes I can no longer fit into!  Anyway, highly highly recommended if you need fitted carpentry cupboards or shelves, and want to work with someone who cares about the outcome. Thank you so much Julian!
