....can I ask what you do about language classes? Are there any good local classes? And is there still an au pairs group who meet up regularly?

We have a very lovely German au pair arriving at Easter and she's keen to make new friends and start language classes.

I have an au pair and she made a couple of au pair friends locally. She is not going to classes but I heard a while ago that Lewisham college does free English classes.

You should try the ELT in Clapham, very popular with au-pairs as the hours are good. Au pair can catch the no 37 bus almost direct to their front door. Not wildly expensive, either. Good chance for her to make friends as well.
