Hi Londoners,

After a 2.5 year hiatus, my english hubby and our two little daughters are coming back to London to see all our english relies and friends (we live in Sydney).

I want to arrange an afternoon at a pub where all our friends (and their kids) can come along... so would be VERY grateful for any suggestions of good pubs around East Dulwich that are kid-friendly. It will be in April, probably on a Saturday or Sunday arvo. People will be coming from all over, so ideally somewhere that has good transport links.

Thanks in advance!

Rachel

The Actress, though if there is a big football match on it can be very packed, though there is a family area which is away from the screen so you can generally find a seat, but the tables are mostly 2 or 4 seaters so not great for a group on a weekend.

the crown and greyhound in Dulwich village (few mins walk from north Dulwich station) is very family friendly, the biggest table you can book in the pub restarant is for 10 (but you could get around this by booking that table and another if the group was larger) and they have an online booking request form you could email. If the weather is nice they have a big beer garden.

Agree with EGL about The Victoria. You might also consider The Paxton which is a couple of minutes from Gypsy Hill station. It has lots of safe enclosed outdoor space and a small children's play area outside. Good food and they can cater for children.
The Herne also has the barn at the back that you can rent out - if the numbers would justify it. Would mean your kids can run around a bit more without worrying too much about annoying others and it doesn't feel too much like a function room. Although generally so many kids around on a nice day, noise is not that much of a problem!

Thanks so much for all the suggestions, really appreciate it. I think we might opt for the Crown & Greyhound in Dulwich Village, as it's a 5 min walk from where we're staying. Makes it nice and easy for us!

The Herne does look brilliantly set up for kids. We might have to check that out while we're there too...
