Has anyone ever used this car hire company? It seems they have a licence with Southwark Council and can park in residential streets re pick up/drop off (which apparently must be in the same street) which means one of their cars could be sitting outside your house for ages before anyone picks it up on hire. I know someone who this happened to but apparently there was nothing could be done about it. Bad enough trying to park in front of one's own house these days without the same car being there for days on end. I know that none of us have the "right" to park our cars in front of our own houses, but it is jolly useful when coming back from Sainsburys with the weekly shop! Just thought I would see if any ED residents had experienced the same problem as my friend.

      Thanks to everyone who replied in this thread. Genuinely helpful information, observations and thoughts... and helps restore my broader faith in humnanity! Also, my bank just told me someone called them saying they had found my card on Crystal Palace Road. Thank you people of East Dulwich ❤️.

      But that's the point isn't it Mal, if you go to Glastonbury you are with a hundred thousand other people in the wilds of the country and you cannot complain about noise disruption - you can be selective about where you camp of course.  The Glasto organisers and local council go out of their way to keep the locals onside - friends of mine used to live in a village some miles from Worthy Farm and would be offered free tickets. But there are a lot of people in Dulwich and Herne Hill and Brixton who have huge amounts of disruption thrust upon them because this is, after all, a densely populated urban area and not deepest Somerset.  Councils want to monetise our public spaces as much as they can but this is often in conflict with the needs and wants of their constituents who live nearby. What is happening in Brockwell is a warning as Southwark will want to try and monetise Peckham Rye to the same extent if they can.
