free bike maintenance under Peckham Arch April 11th

Recommended Posts

British Summer Time returns and brings back Southwark Cyclists' Dr Bike. This is a free bike maintenance session 5.30-7.30pm under Peckham Arch (see pic). It's free -- we fund the professional and provide the volunteers. It's open to all. We carry small parts (brake cables etc) but not bigger stuff like wheels, chains or brake blocks, so if you know (or suspect) that you need new bits please bring them with you. We're going to be under the Arch on the second Thursday of every month until the end of October when we vanish with BST.

Everyone is welcome. There is no charge and no ID checks. We give out local info and gossip.

There aren't any more details really but if I have missed something out it is likely to be here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/events/dr-bike-under-peckham-arch-13/. Urgent queries to 07842 640 207, more leisurely ones to [email protected]

    • Labour was right not to increase fuel duty - it's not just motorists it affects, but goods transport. Fuel goes up, inflation goes up. Inflation will go up now anyway, and growth will stagnate, because businesses will pass the employee NIC hikes onto customers.  I think farms should be exempt from the 20% IHT. I don't know any rich famers, only ones who work their fingers to the bone. But it's in their blood and taking that, often multi-generation, legacy out of the family is heart-breaking. Many work to such low yields, and yet they'll often still bring a lamb to the vet, even if the fees are more than the lamb's life (or death) is worth. Food security should be made a top priority in this country. And, even tho the tax is only for farms over £1m, that's probably not much when you add it all up. I think every incentive should be given to young people who want to take up the mantle.
