WARNING Pickpockets are operating in the East Dulwich area and two women were caught taking a purse from an open handbag in Chener bookshop this morning and removing cash! They dropped the cash when challenged and left. Watch out for these distraction techniques!!

One engaged the person in conversation whilst crowding around her and the other went into her bag. She was kept talking until she felt or saw the purse go back! The money was thrown on the floor when the lady shouted!
