Rooster Booster
A bench has been placed at the end of Oglander Road. It's quite a nice looking bench. However, it has been concreted into the pavement at an angle which narrows the thoroughfare. Does this bother anyone else apart from me? Loutwo
It?s a great addition. Especially when you are carrying a lot of things and need a rest. Louisa. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/221265-oglander-bench/#findComment-1326662 Share on other sites
Vik
The pavement there is very wide, there is plenty of space between the bench and the road, you could always walk around the front of the bench instead of behind it? KatieJ
I live on Oglander road and went for a run that ended at the bench the other day. Had a lovely sit down and chat with my friend! It's a huge pavement down that end. A complete non issue for most I would have thought. suecharlie@btinterne
I am glad people like the bench. I have had two others installed along Lordship Lane, One outside the Sogim Pharmacy replacing the bench that was damaged by a car and one outside the Sainsbury's Local. They were paid for from the Council's Cleaner, Greener,Safer fund. Research has shown older people are more likely to venture out of their homes if they know the are places to rest up along the way. I know many people who are afraid to leave their home with long term health conditions because they fear feeling faint or worse on long walks, or even essential walks tot he shops and back. I can assure you I?ve used this bench, and this is the sort of thing councils should be spending money on. Thumbs up from me. Louisa. Nigello
I saw the LL benches being used today, one by a middle-aged man and another by a young man and woman. I agree with Louisa that more of these and other such micro-pleasures should be thought of and implemented.
