Has anyone seen the lady laying down fox food (eggs and cat food) every night around the Avondale rise / Copleston Road area?

It smells awful and is attracting foxes who take the eggs, smash them in Gardens and then soil cat food which is being left everywhere. I have asked her to stop doing it but please say so if you are seeing this too - it is attracting massive foxes to the area who are making horrible smelly mess everywhere, destroying gardens and intimidating people on the street.

Living in an Urban area It is a privilege to see these beautiful creatures.

I too feed the Foxes. Mostly when they are about late at night.

They wait outside my house for me to home late at night and sometimes follow me up my road

when they know I have food. They like spicy Hot chicken wings. They do not like Spare Ribs.

They are very timid but they seem to recognise me.

They are scared of cats and pose very little threat to your pets.

There is a lot more Domestic Dog Poo around than Fox Poo. Fox poo is a lot smaller.

In Winter Foxes will catch and eat mice. In summer they eat lots of insects like crickets, beetles and caterpillars as well as frogs

Only a quarter of foxes live to be two years old, 12% to three years, 6% to four years, and very few make it beyond six years. Many are killed in road traffic accidents.

People need to be a lot more tolerant to our Foxes.

I love spare ribs. Don't mind if they're pre-eaten, don't worry just leave them on the pavement I'll sort them for ya.

Yeah and the rest. Last year I practically had to repopulate SE22 on my own. I got 99 problems, ungrateful little biters every one of 'em.

?Intimidating people on the street? - do I really need to explain why I think they?re trying to get a raise from everyone.

Well, it seemed a perfectly normal post to me.

As do their previous posts on here, so I also don't understand your comment"some people never learn."

But maybe I'm just naive.

Since 2015 they?ve only engaged in selling and buying on the forum. Then out of nowhere comes a thread about a elderly person feeding wild animals, with the line ?intimidating people?, in reference to a small defenceless animal. I mean, where do I even begin to explain how ridiculously exaggerated and sensationalist this is? When did you last see a small emaciated Fox cornering a person? A very bizarre thread from someone with little posting history outside of the buyer/seller part of the forum. It is quite clearly trolling, and pretty poor form trolling at best.

Didn?t suggest you were a troll. Just a ignorant human being who lacks empathy for other species we share this planet with. Let?s not forget, they only come to urban areas because we humans hunted them out of the countryside, and we leave our crap strewn out on the shared spaces we call streets, which is a breeding ground for any hungry animal. Are you suggesting they don?t have a right to live like the rest of us do?

And in answer to your first stupid point, we do feed rats actually. Because we create the wasteful environment for them to thrive in.

That?s debatable 😊

Louisa.

We have a large male that comes over the fence, more regularly these last few weeks. At first we thought he was looking for another den and because there's no overgrown areas nearby it didn't occur to me he was coming over to us on his recce route. So then I discovered that a bottom shed panel had been ripped away causing a lot of damage to one corner and given the strength needed, I'm pretty sure of the size of animal to do this.

He's a beautiful, healthy animal trying to make it in a challenging urban habitat but I won't be feeding him. Instead I've been going out making a lot of noise to make him unwelcome. I've bodged the shed panel but assume he'll try again and maybe at that point my patience will wear a bit thinner although I have no intention of hurting him - even if I could.

It would seem that Louisa/Loutwo's time spent away from the forum has not aided the bitter, ignorant and twisted views she seems to still hold.

    • I think it's connected with the totem pole renovation celebrations They have passed now, but the notice has been there since then (at least that's when I first saw it - I passed it on the 484 and also took a photo!)
    • Labour was damned, no matter what it did, when it came to the budget. It loves go on about the black hole, but if Labour had had its way, we'd have been in lockdown for longer and the black hole would be even bigger.  Am I only the one who thinks it's time the NHS became revenue-generating? Not private, but charging small fees for GP appts, x-rays etc? People who don't turn up for GP and out-patient appointments should definitely be charged a cancellation fee. When I lived in Norway I got incredible medical treatment, including follow up appointments, drugs, x-rays, all for £200. I was more than happy to pay it and could afford to. For fairness, make it somehow means-tested.  I am sure there's a model in there somewhere that would be fair to everyone. It's time we stopped fetishising something that no longer works for patient or doctor.  As for major growth, it's a thing of the past, no matter where in the world you live, unless it's China. Or unless you want a Truss-style, totally de-regulated economy and love capitalism with a large C.
    • If you read my post I expect a compromise with the raising of the cap on agricultural property so that far less 'ordinary' farmers do not get caught  Clarkson is simply a high profile land owner who is not in the business as a conventional farmer.  Here's a nice article that seems to explain things well  https://www.sustainweb.org/blogs/nov24-farming-budget-inheritance-tax-apr/ It's too early to speculate on 2029.  I expect that most of us who were pleased that Labour got in were not expecting anything radical. Whilst floating the idea of hitting those looking to minimise inheritance tax, including gifting, like fuel duty they also chickened put. I'm surprised that anyone could start touting for the Tories after 14 years of financial mismanagement and general incompetence. Surly not.  A very low bar for Labour but they must be well aware that there doesn't need to be much of a swing form Reform to overturn Labour's artificially large majority.  But even with a generally rabid right wing press, now was the opportunity to be much braver.
    • And I worry this Labour government with all of it's own goals and the tax increases is playing into Farage's hands. With Trump winning in the US, his BFF Farage is likely to benefit from strained relations between the US administration and the UK one. As Alastair Campbell said on a recent episode of The Rest is Politics who would not have wanted to be a fly on the wall of the first call between Angela Rayner and JD Vance....those two really are oil and water. Scary, scary times right now and there seems to be a lack of leadership and political nous within the government at a time when we really need it - there aren't many in the cabinet who you think will play well on the global stage.
