Morning EDFers - apologies for the grumpy thread title.

Much as I love DMC I've had another day of pressing non-stop redial since 8am on the dot - only to be told when I did get through that there were no more emergency appointments.

Sigh!

Can anyone recommend a practice in SE22 that doesn't have such a huge patient list? Or that has a better appointment/getting seen on the day track record?

Really appreciate this xxxx

hi there - i am feeling similarly frustrated, can't believe how hard it is to get an 'emergency' appt. I have heard forest hill rd practice is gd (in fact i was a patient there about 10 yrs ago when it was pretty good, don't know if it's changed much). given your forum name you might be quite close...

the other thing is that it's sometimes worth calling dmc again in the afternoon as they do get cancellations...I've managed to get a few 5pmish appts that way.

Or there's the Lister centre in Peckham. I am at DMC as well and have the same pbs. Last time my daughter was ill, I called in a French paediatrician who visited us at home. When my mother in law took my daughter to the GP later on in the week to get checked, GP told her that the paediatrician had given far more antibiotics than she would ever allow and how she wishes all French doctors would go back to France. They don't like the competition - especially when it's got a better bedside manner.;-)

I would go to the Lister if I were you and you can bear to take yourself all the way there. Or wait for 6.30pm for Seldoc but the service there is a bit hit and miss.

I'm a patient at Forest Hill Rd and have always been able to get an appt for the same day when I phone them early and tell them it's my 4 year old who is poorly. Or the duty doctor always calls me back in 1 hour, telling me what to do. I'm happy with them.
We are with FHR. My stepdaughter has special needs and we have always got an on the day appointment through the duty doctor system. I've been impressed too by the lengths they have gone to in order to see her quickly, on one occasion pulling a doctor off her break purely for the appointment.
I have always been able to get an appointment on the same day for my 2 children if I call at 8.30 (sometimes takes a while to get through). If it's for me and an emergency I have been asked to come in and wait to see the duty Dr a few times. I aso really rate several of the Drs there. We are closer to DMC but threads like this put me off moving!
i have had so many fights with them over repeat prescriptions - basically have a weekly mass stress out over my baby's meds because of the flaws in their system. We are hoping to move this year and I think I'll move practice if we do.

    • Anything that improves the front of the station has to be a good thing. Opening up the square in front is a superb idea, it will show the beauty of the architecture of the station, just as they did at Kings Cross when they ripped out the monstrosity of the 1960's frontage and now the station gleams. People probably go there to see the beauty of it. Now wouldn't it be good if once opened up and cleaned up, people visited to see how wonderful it then looks. I guess there is a generally lack of trust that the station square will open by the end of next year, HOWEVER, when the current frontage is removed and the square is opened up as it originally was it will look grand.

Shockingly, I actually have to agree with some of the points you've raised.  Reform are the relics of BNP and UKIP, both detestable so add them together and you get an even worse result which is Reform that the UK can do without.
    • Farage has done nothing but divide and diminish this country, all in the name of his ego and his bank balance. Brexit has made us poorer and has damaged our influence in the world. He supported Trump who is directly threatening our interests and he supported Liz Truss' disastrous budget. He has done his best to ensure our country's decline and now people too proud to admit their mistakes and the deleterious impact of UKIP / The Brexit party / Reform Ltd are again voting for him to finish the job / nail down the coffin lid. Yes, he is a plastic patriot.
    • You clearly don’t know Peckham Rye station there are lifts but they’re not available to the public. Actually, they were  briefly made available when the art exhibition was on.  Priorites again.
