Hard on the heels of attempt to kill Lordship Lane with CPZ comes next assault on local businesses. Consultation on proposed levy on licensed premises open after midnight has been announced.

Why not close all businesses down and create a giant cycle park and use empty shops for drop in consultation surgeries.

With all the serious local and international issues, and the Labour Party mired in hatred and antisemitism, only Southwark could become a one issue party completely dominated by the People?s front for Cycling.

Are you mad? They'd take up valuable carparking spaces or stop elderly people getting down the pavement or (fill in generic reason why bicycling is second only to smallpox as a threat to health and happiness).

Chick did you not notice the 8 Labour party MPs resigning from the party last week?

Back on topic, this consultation is for a borough wide tax on all businesses selling alcohol after 12am. 70% of the funds raised will go to the Met who can then spend it as they see fit pretty much anywhere within the M25

To be honest the OP derailed their own thread right from the start - only one sentence is about the actual topic, the rest is moaning about Labour and cycling, which is presumably why Admin lounged it a soon as it was posted.

I do apologise; not quite sure what came over me there. I must be suffering from lack of car exhaust fumes or something :) you are clearly right, down with all this health and happiness stuff and nonsense!

    • Hi, Self explanatory anyone help or point me in  right direction please.   Thanks
    • Cheques are still the safest way to send money to others if you want to make a 'thing' of it. At Christmas or birthdays a card with a cheque is the most effective present to distant god children or extended family, for instance when you don't know what they have or need - made out to the parent if you don't think they have an account yet. Of course you can use electronic transfer, often, to parents if you set it up, but that doesn't quite have the impact of a cheque in the post. So a cheque still has a use, I believe, even when you have very much reduced your cheque writing for other purposes.

    • The solution for the cost of duvet washing is for each person to have their own single duvet like in Scandinavia.  Then you can wash the duvet in your own washing machine. Get a heated drying rack if you don’t have a tumble dryer.
