We are delighted to be hosting an inspired collaboration between Alasdair Roberts, electronic composer Amble Skuse, and early music pianist David McGuinness.

For their tour dates, Alasdair, Amble and David will be presenting their album "What News" in its entirety ? and in all its variety, from the stirring opener 'The Dun Broon Bride' through the rollicking 'Johnny o' the Brine', the macabre and eerie 'Young Johnstone', the spare and tender 'Rosie Anderson' and 'Long A-Growing' to the near-overwhelming sonic maelstrom of 'Clerk Colven'. This will be a rare chance to experience an extraordinary collaboration, sure to appeal to aficionados of traditional song and experimental music alike. The collaboration has received much praise from the media and the folk world including Shirley Collins who described the trio's work as " Brilliant, bold and beautiful"

There will be two great supports: Jacken Elswyth and Sophie Crawford, see more details below.

Jacken Elswyth is a London-based banjo player exploring traditional tunes, extrapolations thereon, and improvisational pieces for clawhammer banjo. Drawing on old-time Appalachian playing alongside American Primitive guitarists and English folk revivalists, Jacken adds drone accompaniments, extended playing techniques, and elements of free playing to push at the edges of these styles and traditions.

Sophie Crawford is a folk musician from East London. She performs traditional English folk music as well as her own songs. She has recently released her first album ?Silver Pin? with Oliver Coates.
