This is one of the longer rides -- starts 9.30am and ends at 1pm. The forecast is good (at the moment) "light cloud and gentle breezes" says the BBC. Sounds lovely and it's a suitably lovely route.

It starts in Greenwich by the Cutty Sark. If you need help getting there ring or text Bruce Lynn on 07729 279 945) and he will meet you at Canada Water next to the Tube and the Library. "At 9am sharp" says Bruce.

The meeting place in Greenwich is Cutty Sark Gardens next to the Tunnel entrance. It's a there and back ride to Lesnes Abbey,in Abbey Wood. If you've never heard of it, neither had I. Info here and picture attached: https://visitlesnes.co.uk Built by a 12th century Lord Chief Justice in penance for the murder of Thomas a Beckett it says. That's the sort of thing Lord Chief Justices are not supposed to do.

Easy-paced, flat, this will be a 16 mile ride east along the Thames path (mostly). There's lots to see ? Royal Naval College, O2, Emirates Airline, Thames Flood Barrier amongst much else. There will be a coffee break at Lesnes Abbey (excellent cafe).

This is part of a series of Saturday morning rides which are mostly 2hrs with occasional longer ones (like this one) They are off-road, as flat as can be arranged and easy paced -- they make a good introduction to the safer cycling routes of Southwark. They are free and everyone is welcome. They are arranged by Bruce and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists which is the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign which campaigns for more, safer cycling in London. Our website is here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk. Everyone is welcome and it's all free
