GioSE22
These are the best for me:Le querce, great italian (said by an italian), super family friendlyBabur, a bit more refined indian with unusual menu, excellent desserts (mango brulee) and great cocktailsDarthmouth Arms, sometimes very nice meat or pasta based dishes and soupsLocale, pizza only, the other dishes are nothing special Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21786-wheres-good-to-eat-out-locally/page/5/#findComment-523694 Share on other sites
summerjt
Il Mirto in Melbourne Grove is fantastic. I'd also recommend their takeaway pizzas. Free delivery when you order more than ?10. Never had a bad experience in this place. midivydale
Not really SE22 as in Brockley but Meze Mengal do the best Turkish food I have ever tasted. Wonderful place. You go for the food though, as its hardly a romantic, exclusive, grand place but the food is truly heavenly. camberlou
I went to the Crooked Well last week with a couple of friends. Nice vibe, great food. Started with lovely cocktails and had a bottle of Portugese red with our food. The service was excellent - I like that they offer tap water. And the waitrose brought an extra plate for my friend as we'd only ordered two starters for three of us. Reggie66
There is a lovely Thai restaurant in Lordship Lane called Sema Thai. The food is great and not over priced either Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21786-wheres-good-to-eat-out-locally/page/5/#findComment-524717 Share on other sites

tfm33
I second Sue's advice in avoiding Sema Thai. We went there about 6 months ago and were served an utterly bland fish dish. KidKruger
Sema Thai is in a rut, it was in a rut until a few years ago when the tarted up the inside, but then it just went into same rut but with new decor. They should totally revamp the menu and perhaps include some regional dishes. The guy who runs it has a mate up in Clerkenwell who owns Thai Rapide, they have some regional pages on the menu and have some great dishes available. Have gone there some days on a lunch break in the week and they weren't open then either. Real shame. Jeremy
Jacks are obviously concentrating mainly on their "supper club" events, which you need to book in advance. The food is apparently very good. CJMAHER
took tips from this forum and went to Si Mangia on Saturday, really good! great menu, lots to choose from, perfect food and reasonable (?40 for a starter, 2 mains and house wine) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21786-wheres-good-to-eat-out-locally/page/5/#findComment-533617 Share on other sites

Went last night and ate starters, a main and plenty of red wine for ?22 a head. As midivydale says, nothing much to look at particularly from the outside but the food is fabulous and the place was packed. Penguin68
Ah, you'll be the Gulc5 who was advertising for staff in your fish and chip shop earlier? It's better (and more believable) if a real and unconnected punter praises your shop, but good luck anyway. I hope you deliver against the expectations you have raised. jimbo1964
I'm going to stick up for Sema Thai. It's pretty dull decor but the food is very good. We usually end up in Thai Corner Cafe as it's a much nicer place to be.I'm also a big fan of Mirash for Indian and Il Mirto for cheap but nice Italian.
