Handy Andy

Recommended Posts

Hi - I am a retired social services manager with a handy streak. I can do most basic repair and fixing, light painting and decorating, clearing and assembly jobs around the home. If you want to put up a shelf, assemble a flat pack, paint a room, or just fix something that's gone a bit wonky, I can help.

I'm not a builder, plumber or electrician, so I can't do the big complicated stuff, but I work to the standard of a competent DIY-er. That's how I learnt, doing up places of my own when we couldn't afford to employ someone else! Just ask and I'll give you an honest appraisal. I'm reasonably priced, and I'll always provide an estimate before I start.

I'm recently moved back to London from Norwich, where I built up my small business after I retired from social services. I've already worked for people here in Solomon's Passage, Colyton Road, Calton Avenue,Carden Road and Ruskin Park House. They all said they'd happily recommend me (and also suggested I put something on this forum).

You can contact me by phone (07505 083 864) or email: [email protected]

I highly recommend Andy - he did 3 hours of work for me and went round the house fixing and sorting all the niggling things that i haven't had the time or competence to complete properly - my list included fixing a broken lock, securing a cupboard door that had broken off its hinges, filling a skirting board and flooboard area, fixing and filing down a door that has never closed properly.

He was excellent - friendly, prompt, tidy and efficient

I would defintitely use him again

    • Are there any Physical Activity (Bronze) approved providers near East Dulwich? Any ideas would be highly appreciated!
    • The failure of the council year on year to prevent the corporate take-over of our precious public space is appalling. The consultation process this year is deliberately dumbed down and takes the form of a survey with a range of anodyne tick boxes designed to give the appearance of a 'consultation' without requiring any hard comment or information that could be used to oppose the survey.  It may be possible to get some answers from Gala themselves so I will try to do that and post here if anything forthcoming.
    • Avoid Acorn at all cost. Appalling service in every regard. We were involved in a sale and they repeatedly made procedural errors that delayed, and almost tanked, the sale. As buyers, they knew literally nothing about the property and were unable to answer even the most basic questions. Instead they simply lied rather than saying they didn’t know any information which caused issue in the long run. I hear only positive things about Truepenny’s.
    • I was given an old clarinet recently. I play saxophone, but am struggling to make a good sound through the clarinet. Is there anyone who could give it a look over and see if there’s anything amiss or stuck? I’m not enough familiar with how it should be to know what to look for… I’m based in Camberwell. Thanks
