Handy Andy

Hi - I am a retired social services manager with a handy streak. I can do most basic repair and fixing, light painting and decorating, clearing and assembly jobs around the home. If you want to put up a shelf, assemble a flat pack, paint a room, or just fix something that's gone a bit wonky, I can help.

I'm not a builder, plumber or electrician, so I can't do the big complicated stuff, but I work to the standard of a competent DIY-er. That's how I learnt, doing up places of my own when we couldn't afford to employ someone else! Just ask and I'll give you an honest appraisal. I'm reasonably priced, and I'll always provide an estimate before I start.

I'm recently moved back to London from Norwich, where I built up my small business after I retired from social services. I've already worked for people here in Solomon's Passage, Colyton Road, Calton Avenue,Carden Road and Ruskin Park House. They all said they'd happily recommend me (and also suggested I put something on this forum).

You can contact me by phone (07505 083 864) or email: [email protected]

I highly recommend Andy - he did 3 hours of work for me and went round the house fixing and sorting all the niggling things that i haven't had the time or competence to complete properly - my list included fixing a broken lock, securing a cupboard door that had broken off its hinges, filling a skirting board and flooboard area, fixing and filing down a door that has never closed properly.

He was excellent - friendly, prompt, tidy and efficient

I would defintitely use him again

    • All of this send them to the Tower, off with their heads reminds me of Cecil Parkinson who got caught with his pants down, resigned his position, then later returned as a minister to standing applause from his Tory MP colleagues.   Ah, the good old days
    • Hi,  is the roof a straight forward ‘up and over’ ? has it got ‘hips’? You could Google earth the property and post it on here for a proper quote.
    • this is mental - you are literally describing a completely different way of dealing with a situation - and claiming "it;s all the same". Because labour say "were not like them" and prove it by doing something that's the complete opposite of their predecessors If wrongdoing comes to light, a party can either try and brush it off and ignore it - or deal with it immediately which do you want? what would make Labour look good in your eyes in this situation?
    • I think this story will run a bit - Labour HQ has said she went because "further details have come to light". Which is political speak for "what is about to come to light was not something we were aware of so don't blame us". i.e. casting her adrift politically and suggesting she did not tell them the full story to cover their own backs. Clearly the police must have thought something unusual was happening to charge her with that - we will probably find out over the weekend.   The problem is when you preach that "we're not like them" and then you act like them then it makes you look like hypocrites. In isolation this could be managed but it's another example of Labour saying one thing and doing another - Cash for Access, the clothing debacle, MP punching constituents etc etc etc. It casts all politicians in a bad light.
