This ride starts and finishes in Peckham Square, between Peckham Library and Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre, SE15 5JR. The weather forecast at the moment says drizzle turning to rain at 1pm. It might improve -- it's forecast to be a smidgen warmer and people don't dissolve. There's a photo of Peckham Arch attached which is good to shelter under. Best way to describe it is opposite Costa. If you have a coffee in Costa and look out of the window you are likely to see the Arch.

The ride is a loop going through Clapham and on to the new Battersea Power Station developments before returning. There's a photo of the Battersea Power Station attached too. The new developments seem to be expensive flats. The route goes via Burgess Park and through the backstreets of Brixton to approach the power station development from the south. No cycling along Nine Elms Road. The map is here: [gb.mapometer.com]

As far as possible the group will be using paths and quiet streets, but there are likely to be some short busy stretches and a few busy junctions. Stops will be brief because this is 11.59 miles in two hours. The leader will be Jane. She has joined Bruce Lynn in arranging this ride on behalf of Southwark Cyclists. It's free and open to all. First timers specially welcome. The aim is to introduce new cyclists gently to cycling in London, teaching them safe routes and interesting back streets. Safe all the time.
