capt_birdseye
Any good? Looks grim as hell with the horrible orange paint-job. But always looks to be rather busy. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/216-cafe-el-paso/ Share on other sites
euphorbia
I am going for the first time at the weekend to celebrate my brother-in-law's birthday ... he describes it as "some of the best irish-mexican fusion cusine in the world" Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/216-cafe-el-paso/#findComment-3346 Share on other sites
Jamie
Funny, I was going past this place today thinking how on earth does it survive? I've read a lot of good things about irish-mexican fusion food. Guest
Where is it? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/216-cafe-el-paso/#findComment-3363 Share on other sites
batdog
It's one block from the Police Station on Lordship Lane, the food might be good but I never tried it because of the lighting system ( it seems like a Uni canteen in Dakota USA )and the they do not clean the front windows very often. If someone on this forum strongly reccomends it, I will make the effort and try it out. Quaywe
It looks a bit tacky from outside but the food there is great! It's good when it's really busy too as it's a good atmosphere. You can pick from anything traditional mexican (tortillas, enchiladas, fajitas, nachos, chile con carne, etc) to your more simple (and HUGE) burgers with fries etc. To drink is good spanish/mexican beers, a great cocktail list and of course SANGRIA! This service is great and it's pretty well priced too. I highly recommend it. Guest
I used to be a regular customer in "never on a sunday" steakhouse, and when it changed hands in the early 1990's I was very disappointed, especially when I saw tons of orange paint and a mexican chappie with a large hat being painted on the outside of the building. However, it isnt so bad, perhaps a million miles off of the standard of Mexican cuisine you would expect in the states, but not the worst place in the world if you like this sort of food... Ant
I've never been, but I've heard from someone who has that the food ranges from not-all-that to pretty bad, but that the booze more than makes up for it and is always great. Guest
Been twice. Food rubbish unless you like your food prepacked then microwaved. Tired and cliched. Dont bother. nutty
Everyone time someone puts a negative comment on this forum about this place I feel forced to balance the views up a bit. It's a top laugh - don't go as a "foodie" or you will be disappointed, but order a jug of Margherita, enjoy the good service and stuff your face (the servings are massive) on bog standard Mexican for decent prices.... I've always enjoyed it there and it's a cheap night out by ED standards.
