Last night my nearly 3 year old (who has been sleeping through, apart from when ill since about age 1) started crying loudly so when I went in found out she wanted me to blow her nose. Fine, I thought, poor thing has a bit of a cold. Half an hour later, same thing so I give her a roll of tissue and she seems happy. Half an hour later she starts crying and I find out it is because she wants me to put the tissue in the bin. She is in a big girl bed by the way so can get out herself (but doesn't like to).

In the last couple of weeks we've also had crying in the early morning because:

- her bears ballet shoe has fallen off, can I put it back on

- covers have got tangled

- she doesn't want a doll in her bed any more but in the chair

No real point to this thread, other than I'd like to hear some other quirky reasons your child gets you up. I'm sure it's just a phase she's going through and it's not too disruptive. Usually I just sort out the problem, put her music on and she settles down quickly.

this happens regulary in our house normally at some un godly hour. requests are very simalir to your, my elbow hurts, pull my pj trouser leg down, woody has taken up all the bed remove him,, followed by i miss woody get him back, my eyes keep opening,my eyes are stuck,my brother wants a biscuit(brother is asleep and nothing wakes him), I can hear my knights calling me, My fav has been this bed is too hard and my bum is too soft!as I say it happens alot I have tried to ignor it but he can be very detrmined and ends up waking the entire house and possibly the street.

I defo reckon its a phase probably they just need to know your still there, their little minds must be very confussed some times.

Its just one of those phase tha twill pass and another one will come along just to keep us mummies on our toes.

Mine's up loads in the night at the moment as his dad's working away for 3 months. Best excuse so far was at 2am in a very calm voice saying 'mummy, my finger nail needs cutting'. Given he fights like anything not to have them cut at a reasonable hour of the day I didn't think that was the main reason!
Madmum those are hilarious. I like the blame on the brother. Mine has blamed pieces of finger nail hanging off before, as well as bogies (which I am asked to remove from the finger). Ah well. Funny in the daylight, less so at 3am :)

Sanne Panne, I am worried I have toddler logic - the mermaid's need for batteries makes perfect sense to me.

Occasionally, we have the little one yelling the house down and screaming as if she is seriously ill - you go up and she tells you in an outraged voice with wild gesticulation that light is getting in througha crack in the door.

"my eyes keep opening" is hilarious, Madmum.

What a great thread!!

And Madmum another laughing fan here! New comedic talent being raised in your house I believe. Poor Woody doesn't know whether he's coming or going...

Looking forward to comedy gold creeping into night-wakings...!

Just about every night, about 5-20 mins after we've put her down, my youngest comes out on the landing and shouts for me. When I go up, she starts trying to think up her 'excuse'. It's so funny to watch her little brain whirring as she looks around trying to think of something justifiable. This thread is making me think I should write them down as some are classic youngster thinking.....of course can't think of any now other than the current regular that her pillow is too hot.

Just thankful she doesn't do it in the night - don't think it would seem so cute!

Nunheadmum - mine does that too. She calls me back with an alarming 'i want to tell you something!!!' and of course I go back. Then she doesn't know what to say and does the looking around thing too. Sometimes it's I don't want this pillow, I love you so much (ahhh!) or just repeating something that happened in the day. It's very cute but i know from experience if I don't try and wind it up somehow she'd be telling me things til midnight...

    • Southwark Council Parking Enforcement Corrupt Practices   Today, Southwark Council Parking Enforcement is illegally giving parking tickets to cars that are legally parked on Stradella Road at the end near to Halfmoon Lane.   Firstly, there are several bays at the beginning of Stradella Road that have no parking suspension sign.     Cars are parking legally and are being given parking tickets illegally.   Southwark Council Parking Enforcement officers have been made aware of this illegal behaviour and shown that they are no parking suspension notices in those bays and or in that part of the road; however, they continue to issues tickets illegally and cars continue to park in those bays unaware that they are (apparently) suspended because there is no notice to say such, in fact there is a notice to say 1hr parking between 8:30am and 6pm.   Further up Stradella Road, approximately 250+ metres, several cars were legally parked and there were no parking suspension notices; however, they were illegally issued with parking tickets. Subsequently, an agent for Southwark Council was putting up parking suspension notices in this part of the road at around 1:30-2pm but only after the legally parked cars had been illegally issued with illegal car parking tickets to try and make it look legal. This is clearly a deeply corrupt scam being undertaken by Southwark Council and its agents. It has been separately reported to the police, local councillors and the local MP. It will also be reported to Southwark Council, however, they are uncontactable until next week. Similar corrupt and illegal behaviour by Southwark Parking enforcement officers was also clearly identified in Halfmoon Lane.   It is quite likely to have occurred in other adjacent roads. Photographic and video evidence of these corrupt practices have been provided to the police to investigate and root out corruption in Southwark Council.

    • Hello My husband bought and sold CDs but is no longer trading. I auctioned off all his collection of records and CDs 2/3 years ago. He had a lot of new CD jewel cases and trays which I’ve been trying to sell off cheaply on this forum… Unsuccessful! I just want them gone now as I was asked by  a shop to count them up and they are cluttering up the hallway. I’ve just had cataract surgery and not advised to lift stuff… I have: 200 CD clear cases with black trays 30 orange CD cases with orange trays  75 black double CD cases with black trays  240 CD clear cases 650 black CD trays  65 clear CD trays Also 3/4 boxes of new DVD cases,  Let me know if you’d like to collect any of the above free. You can give a donation to cancer charity if you like!  kind regards  Eleanor
