anna_r
Last night my nearly 3 year old (who has been sleeping through, apart from when ill since about age 1) started crying loudly so when I went in found out she wanted me to blow her nose. Fine, I thought, poor thing has a bit of a cold. Half an hour later, same thing so I give her a roll of tissue and she seems happy. Half an hour later she starts crying and I find out it is because she wants me to put the tissue in the bin. She is in a big girl bed by the way so can get out herself (but doesn't like to).In the last couple of weeks we've also had crying in the early morning because:- her bears ballet shoe has fallen off, can I put it back on- covers have got tangled- she doesn't want a doll in her bed any more but in the chairNo real point to this thread, other than I'd like to hear some other quirky reasons your child gets you up. I'm sure it's just a phase she's going through and it's not too disruptive. Usually I just sort out the problem, put her music on and she settles down quickly. Bumpkin
Mine's up loads in the night at the moment as his dad's working away for 3 months. Best excuse so far was at 2am in a very calm voice saying 'mummy, my finger nail needs cutting'. Given he fights like anything not to have them cut at a reasonable hour of the day I didn't think that was the main reason! Sanne Panne
"Can you put batteries in my mermaid please". At 3:30am.It's a soft mermaid, never had batteries in it, never made a squeak or moved her tail. anna_r
Madmum those are hilarious. I like the blame on the brother. Mine has blamed pieces of finger nail hanging off before, as well as bogies (which I am asked to remove from the finger). Ah well. Funny in the daylight, less so at 3am :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21564-strangest-reasons-your-toddler-has-cried-in-the-night/#findComment-515997 Share on other sites
KateW
This is hilarious! If and when DD starts doing this (14 months old, think it'll be a while) I'll make sure I make a record of the things she says so I can have a good chuckle later! dulwichgirl2
Sanne Panne, I am worried I have toddler logic - the mermaid's need for batteries makes perfect sense to me. Occasionally, we have the little one yelling the house down and screaming as if she is seriously ill - you go up and she tells you in an outraged voice with wild gesticulation that light is getting in througha crack in the door. "my eyes keep opening" is hilarious, Madmum. snowboarder
Defo an age thing. The other night - 'get that sock out of my bed' - there was no sock. snowboarder
All excuses in general have no logic though. 'No, mummy, I don't want those grapes, it's too WINDY.' Yup. KateW
My friend woke up the other night at 2am to find her 3 year old daughter standing by the side of her bed; when my friend asked her what she was doing, she said "Mummy, I've run out of sleep". Soooo funny. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21564-strangest-reasons-your-toddler-has-cried-in-the-night/#findComment-516118 Share on other sites

kam1
Very funny Madmum. This week our 2 year old has come up with 'can you turn me around' and 'I want to go downstairs to watch the news'. nunheadmum
Just about every night, about 5-20 mins after we've put her down, my youngest comes out on the landing and shouts for me. When I go up, she starts trying to think up her 'excuse'. It's so funny to watch her little brain whirring as she looks around trying to think of something justifiable. This thread is making me think I should write them down as some are classic youngster thinking.....of course can't think of any now other than the current regular that her pillow is too hot. Just thankful she doesn't do it in the night - don't think it would seem so cute! anna_r
Nunheadmum - mine does that too. She calls me back with an alarming 'i want to tell you something!!!' and of course I go back. Then she doesn't know what to say and does the looking around thing too. Sometimes it's I don't want this pillow, I love you so much (ahhh!) or just repeating something that happened in the day. It's very cute but i know from experience if I don't try and wind it up somehow she'd be telling me things til midnight...
