Hi ya Chick,

I have to say I am absolutely DELIGHTED to see The Dark Judges on there. You should all be sent to the Cursed Earth if its not chosen (JOKE).

Cannot be there Weds to discuss, boo hoo. If there's voting for the Christmas meal venue, the excellent Si Mangia gets my (long-distance) vote. Really enjoyed it when we all went there last year. Or pizza at the Gowlett is always a winner ;-)

Am DEF going to check out Andy McNab books after PGC's endorsement.

PS was lovely to catch up with you, Vicky and Sheila at the weekend xx

Greetings book clubbers,

A very big thanks to every one who came along last night for a great and full on meeting. Our next book is Gulliver?s Travels by Jonathon Swift.

A synopsis can be found here:

I have booked a table for 10 at Si Mangia and I would be grateful if you could confirm by next Friday please. I need to know if you are bringing partners etc. Last time we went there were 12 of us and Si Mangia were very accommodating. Date is for 12th December at 7.30 to 8.00.

I have ordered 5 copies for me, Chloe, Sarah, Jacinda & Jessie. They will be in Rye Books on Saturday.

Carina, nice pictures. I will take my camera to the meal.

Could you please let me have your nominations for our World Book Night book by next Friday. The sooner we apply the more likely we are to get our choice.

And finally a big welcome to Kat, I hope you enjoyed your first night.

Greetings book clubbers,

Well interesting news, we have our first book club baby, this from Alexia:

Hi Chick. It's a girl! Elspeth Rowena Weeple, born at 1.50am yesterday morning, weighing 6lb 14 oz. We're both well but it was all rather protracted so likely to be in Kings till the weekend. Alexia.

That was sent one day ago so Elspeth was born on 20th. Congrats to all three. I think we should buy a collective book token for Elspeth, even babies get read to.

So far only five confirmations for Si Mangia.

The weather for Saturdays planet gazing isn?t looking promising but I will make a decision tomorrow.

I am off to the library.

Chick

Hi,

So far the following have confirmed the Christmas meal: Chloe, me, Megan, Mike, Jessie, Sarah, Leah & John plus two new people which makes ten. If you have confirmed and not on this list let me know please. If any one else wants to come let me know asap so that I can expand the booking.

And if you want to come tomorrow to see Jupiter?s moons please do.

Thanks

Chick. PS still about 150 pages of AK left but hugely enjoying GT.

Alison, you are very welcome to come to the next meeting, it's our Christmas meal at Si Mangia, see the above thread for details. It's on the 12th December. I look forward to meeting you but please let me know if you are coming so I can book enough room.

Greetings book clubbers,

One week to go for our meal. I have booked 15 places based on the numbers who said they were coming so if you can?t or want to pull out please let me know ASAP. One hundred pages left for AK and will finish next year. Big push on to finish Gulliver?s Travels which I am enjoying immensely and finding very funny.

Hope the weather is cold enough for you and look forward to London grinding to a standstill when we get one snow flake.

Cheers

Chick

Greetings book clubbers,

Thanks to everyone who came to our meal last week, The Gowlett was a bit of a blur at the end, a great night though. Our next book is ?The Life of Pi? by Yan Martel.

Our next meeting is on the 16th January and will be held in The Draught House in Lordship Lane. I will confirm this next year.

Hi Naomi,

Just read the book or as much as you can and turn up on the 16th January at the Draught House in Lordship Lane.

We are small, informal and very friendly so don?t be shy or worry about meeting a bunch of strangers, we wont be strangers for long.

Look forward to meeting you.

Cheers

    • maybe u should speak to some of the kids parents who are constantly mugged who can’t get a police officer to investigate and tell them to stick to gb news, such a childish righteousness comment for your self  All jokes aside there is young kids constantly getting mugged in our area, there is masked bike riders going around armed with knife’s, all I’m saying is police resources could be better used, police wont use there resources to respond to car theft but will happily knock on someone’s door for hurtful comments on the internet which should have us all thinking 🤔
    • I recommend you stick to GB News following that last comment.  Hate crime is still a crime.  We all think that we know best.
