Hello everyone!

This is possibly a tenuous link, but we are Zoe & Leon from WordPlay, and we run Radio-Drama-Making-Workshops in East Dulwich and surrounding areas. Our next adult workshop (12th March) is all influenced by board games! I thought this might be just up your street! In groups, we challenge you to script a radio play (inspired by your favourite board game), then you pop into our pop-up radio studio and broadcast your radio play LIVE on air! This will also get recorded for you to listen back on our website. We provide various DIY sound effects - including rice, but also encourage people to make their own.

Our Board Game Edition is being held at The Field - a community run space in New Cross this coming Saturday 12th March 7pm-9pm:

The Field

385 Queens Road

New Cross

SE14 5HD

I have attached a poster for the event for more details.

If you fancy it, tickets need to be bought in advance - just so that we can keep an eye on numbers.

Entry costs ?5 and you can get your ticket from our website www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/events

or feel free to email us on [email protected] to reserve your spot and pay on the door.

Perhaps this might be nice for some of you to come together as a group? (We split groups into 4 people).

BYOB and snacks if you get peckish!

We hope to see (and hear) you there!

All the best,

Zoe & Leon

Dear Book group,

Last reminder that we are meeting tomorrow in the Blake room at 8.00pm. Some will discuss the fiction book and there will also be a discussion on consciousness based on the The Magic Furnace.

We are lucky enough to have Pete Worley to chair the discussion:

I have never done anything like this before so it's uncharted waters for me but I think it will be interesting.

Look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Chick

Dear book clubbers,

Thanks to every one who came to last night?s meeting. A very interesting discussion on consciousness and thanks to Emma for chairing it.

Our next book is A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Monster_Calls

If you are still on Freedom then please keep reading.

Our next meeting will be on April 20th. I am not sure about the venue. If you feel strongly about the managers attitude and rudeness please email his regional manager and complain. I have never come across such an attitude before.

[email protected]

As soon as I have a suitable venue I will let you know.

Also a very big welcome to Charlotte, Sian & Anne (Belgium), I hope to see you at the next meeting.

Remember if we order three from Rye Books we get 15% discount. 0203 581 1850.

Till next time,

Hoots & haggis,

Chick

Dear Book group,

I have had a meeting with the manager of the Clockhouse. We can now meet in the Blake room on a Wednesday once a month which is all we wanted. Lighting and music to suit us.

The next meeting is due on the 20th April but the Clockhouse is closed that week so we can meet on the 20th somewhere else or meet in the Clockhouse on the 27th April. Please let me know which you prefer sooner rather than later in case I have to find a new venue.

Meeting on the 27th will give those of us who haven?t finished Freedom more time.

Best wishes,

Chick

Dear book group,

The general consensus is to meet on the 20th. I have to find an alternative venue but that shouldn?t be difficult. I will check out Toasted in Lordship Lane tomorrow and let you know. In May we will be back at the Clockhouse.

Look forward to seeing you all in April.

Bye for now.

Chick

Dear book group,

Eyvie Wyld, a local author was on radio four's book club. We read her book:

"After the Fire, a Still Small Voice." some time ago and Eyvie came to our meeting even though she wasn't feeling too good. Here is a link to the pod cast:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07mw4f5

Also we have the Blake room in the Clockhouse booked for 24th August. Some time in the near future we can look at changing to the snug or at least trying it and see how we feel about moving.

Do listen to the podcast if you can it's very interesting.

Rebecca Carlton has a blog which may be of interest, only a few of you will have met as she has only recently been to a meeting:

Till the 24th.

    • maybe u should speak to some of the kids parents who are constantly mugged who can’t get a police officer to investigate and tell them to stick to gb news, such a childish righteousness comment for your self  All jokes aside there is young kids constantly getting mugged in our area, there is masked bike riders going around armed with knife’s, all I’m saying is police resources could be better used, police wont use there resources to respond to car theft but will happily knock on someone’s door for hurtful comments on the internet which should have us all thinking 🤔
    • I recommend you stick to GB News following that last comment.  Hate crime is still a crime.  We all think that we know best.
