nunheadmum
So how many points in the D&S millionaire's shortbread? I've looked at it longingly but haven't dared try it yet! buggie
I made a complete guesstimation (looked up millionaires shortbread on the tracker & went for the highest quality one of approx same size as I had) at 8 points - given I did only have 1/2 a slice - felt v satisfying!Any idea how much cod & chips from Sea Cow would be?? Really fancy it tomorrow! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21452-9-months-on-9-months-off/page/10/#findComment-554444 Share on other sites

Pickle
Great tips sb, and welcome :)I've always had my weigh in day on a Wed or Thurs, to give me time to undo any damage from the weekend! I also love that fruit is free these days (although over the years and various incarnations of WW it has been before - No Count gave that flexibility when I was a leader).Good luck for all those weighing in today/tomorrow x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21452-9-months-on-9-months-off/page/10/#findComment-554927 Share on other sites
Countjc
I've been meaning to post on here as was inspired by my great friend pebbles on here who has lost an amazing amount of weight and looks incredible. I was really unsure about using ww as normally never diet and do heaps of sport but having a troublesome recovery after baby number 2.Have to say the iPhone app is amazing and makes it so easy but also going to an official weigh in makes it more real somehow.4 weeks in and I've lost 10 lbs so far and really haven't started exercising much. Well done to everyone on here as reading all the tips and so many success stories definitely inspires me to keep at it. Pickle
So, second week of maintenance (although I'm still just sticking to my 40 points a day, but eating every single one of my weeklies), and I lost 2lbs! So I'm now 2.5 under goal, which is a nice place to be, but am going to increase my food this week as I don't really want to go lighter than I am now.Just goes to show that you really can eat all those precious points and still lose weight! On a positive, today I weigh the same as I did the day I got married - not bad 6.5 years and three children later :-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21452-9-months-on-9-months-off/page/10/#findComment-555526 Share on other sites

pebbles
As always am in awe PickleCountjc - amazing - u r looking fab - can't wait for you to come and join Pickle and I running :)I had a bad week and put on half pound. I really struggled all week actually. My knee is hurting so i haven't been running which i know wouldn't make me put on weight but I just feel so much healthier when I run so I don't get tempted by anything - if that makes sense. Bizarrely this week although I counted everything and stuck within points I was just a lot less healthy - i.e. instead of having a chicken breast for 5 points i might have had a crunchie bar for 5 points!!! (bad example but you know what i mean) - i just wasn't very unhealthy although kept within pointsI'm a little spoilt this week in that I'm going to Wimbledon tomorrow for the tennis and then Lords on Fri for cricket - both of which end up being very boozy - agh - luckily though i'm taking a picnic on both days and have just taken my Ocado delivery so I know I will be able to count my food points very clearly and then I just have to be mature with the booze and as my mummy says to me regularly - just learn to say no!!!! - fingers crossed I'm mature and sensible and don't just make the most of not having the kids for 2 days :)Hows everyone else getting on? nikki73
not a great week here either. very small loss but wasn't particularly healthy either and eat out a couple of times. Pickle
sb, thanks, and yes I will stay on WW, although not counting points forever - for me I know whether I'm eating the right things or not, and you're at that stage and have lost the weight it's not necessary to count points anymore.I think that's where a lot of people go wrong - it shouldn't feel like a diet that you stay on or go off, if that makes sense? Through all my years of maintaining I found that every 6 months or so a couple of weeks counting points was a good way to keep me on track, but certainly didn't do it every week. I think the week Pebbles has had is a good reminder that you need to be using your points in a healthy way as much as possible. As tacky as it sounds, it's a lifestyle change, and that's where WW has definite advantages over diets like Lighter Life and the meal replacement type plans, as they dont really teach you anything about healthy eating. In the past I've done filling and healthy (years ago when it had a different name), and as a leader we were encouraged to try it. It works, and forces healthier choices, but you need to be careful of portion sizes - as at the end of the day no matter how healthy a food is, too much of it will make you gain weight. Pickle
Hmmm, this thread has gone very quiet... come on ladies, how are you all doing? I hope motivation is high and pounds are dropping off?I weighed in again this morning, another pound off, so will be upping my points yet again this week. Seems impossible to still be losing weight on the quantity I'm eating (around 45 points a day last week, plus all of my 49 weekly points!). nunheadmum
Went camping at the weekend and all went to pot. Tried to fill in my points last night and think I have 3 weeklies left! (Suspect they've been used too but I just forgot.) I think I managed a staggering 40 one day which, with no breastfeeding babies to offset it with, is quite a lot. Trying to rectify it before the weekend. Managed to put on 2 pounds last week after a fairly responsible week so hoping that the 'using all your weeklies helps you lose' is going to prove true for me this week. pebbles
I'm having a shocker. Have put on 5lbs over last 3 weeks. Basically I haven't been counting and my knee playing up so haven't been running. I know I shouldn't complain but I've been to tennis, cricket, weekends without the kids and basically have been boozing and having too much fun and losing the way. I'm gutted to be honest. I pretty much haven't stopped crying all day cos I'm so annoyed with myself and fed up I've just got to count count count and watch my alcOhol consumption (and therefore my hungOver eating consumption!!)I've come so far but have so much more to go that if I'm not careful I'll be back where I started - I know I won't cos I won't let me (and nor will pickle let me!!!)So keep it up everyone. Don't make my mistake by putting head in the sand!!I will hit goal Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21452-9-months-on-9-months-off/page/10/#findComment-557575 Share on other sites
nunheadmum
Pebbles - I think you need a will of steel to keep to points when you're enjoying yourself. Probably better to look at the fact that you enjoyed yourself which we all need to do sometime and now go back to counting when the environment makes it easier. If you can't run, can you go walking instead? The points seem to be more or less the same for jogging and brisk walking. Or swimming - I've been a couple of times without the kids and it's sooooo nice actually being able to swim (albeit very slow compared to some) rather than playing with kids. It almost feels like a treat rather than exercise! pebbles
nunheadmum - thanks so much :)totally agree about doing walking or swimming. my son annoyingly broke up yesterday for his 9 weeks summer holidays (agh) so that also puts a bit of a stop to exercise!!! I do swim and love it but with husbands hours i.e. out before kids wake and home way after i want to exercise means weekdays i'm going to struggle. but i've had a lovely conversation with my mummy today and she has said i can go round to hers at 7.30am and she'll feed kids breakfast and i can run for an hour and then begin our day as normal (i'm very very very lucky to have a mummy so close by)I went out tonight which could have been quite big but instead i had 2 glasses of vino and had carrots and low fat houmous - totalling 12 points. Tomorrow kids have a bday party in Dulwich Psrk over lunchtime so i'm going to use the 2 hours to go for a run and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet :)I feel the same nunheadmum at weekends when i can't be bothered to go for a run but my husband basically says "so sweetie, do you want to do bath/bed for the 6th/7th time this week or would you like to go for a run for an hour - and guess what i go for.... run every time - amazing time off :)keep going everyone Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21452-9-months-on-9-months-off/page/10/#findComment-557719 Share on other sites
buggie
I've lost 7lb so far, had a fab first week where I lost nearly 5lb, but since have only lost a pound a week.Am happy to still be losing, but find it bizarre that the first week I had a massive 3 course Sunday lunch & lost lots and the following weeks I've behaved better & been more active but lost less (while eating all dailies + most of weeklies!).Am in a similar position to Pebbles where I want to get back into my running but hubbie has been stupidly busy @ work & out too early/back too late for me to fit one in. Going to have to try & get the Davina DVD out ESP as the exercise class I have mananged to attend with bugglet finishes for the summer in a few weeks :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21452-9-months-on-9-months-off/page/10/#findComment-557760 Share on other sites
Grotty
ugh pebbles hope you're doing ok - i've had my head in the sand too so fully empathise. I went on holiday to France and was amazing, even ran 4 times and came home to a 3lb loss feeling amazing, but 10 days have passed with a wedding & 2 big parties and a total lack of motivation. Last week I put on a lb but now jeans feeling tight again which is a bad sign. I managed to count last week and ended on a -84 (!!!!) but this week had used all extra weeklies by day 3 & haven't counted since - the first time really since starting. Need to snap out of this. Its just so frustrating, especially since losing has been so difficult recently so getting back on track seems like a bigger task now. so annoying... uptime
I've lost 8lbs since starting WW and have had several 'weeks off' owing to holidays and work trips abroad. Have started swimming at lunchtimes which has been great but it's hard sticking to points on nights out and at the weekends. Am starting to get some compliments though on how I look, which definitely helps. Keep at it Grotty and hope you can get back on track soon. It is hard but am sure it will be worth it in the end... nunheadmum
Ok, I'm totally confused as to how this works. Had a horror week in terms of what I've eaten - visitors last weekend meant lots of wine/beer, a croissant a day over the (extended) weekend. Couldn't bring myself to count for fear of how many I'd have clocked up. Haven't run for 2 weeks due to injury / no hot water. Decided to keep to my weigh in day to try and get back on track.......and I've lost 2.5 pounds. HOW??My worry is that it's all muscle as I've not been running. Either way, I'm starting the school hols feeling good and determined to get back on track!Guess the moral of the story is don't give up just because you go off track for a few days. All is not lost.
