I am travelling out to help volunteer in the Calais warehouse to support refugees on Sun 30th December. The Help Refugees/Choose Love organisations are still doing crucial humanitarian work for those fleeing conflict, hardship and suffering. We have been asked to bring donations with us, if at all poss.

The list of what is needed is https://helprefugees.org/calais/needs-list/

Can you please look and see if you can donate at all? I suggest maybe PM me if you can donate from this list. The need is for mainly for basic living items in cold and damp conditions - such as warm and waterproof clothing, bedding and tents. I can try to arrange a collection/drop-off for any item.

More info about the situation on the French Channel coast is at https://helprefugees.org/about/. There is an ongoing need for volunteers, donations and funds too, if folk are interested in helping.

Thank you all in advance. Merry Xmas to all EDF users. Best M

    • Just heard 250 houses. Substation fault in Lacon Road. Hopefully may be fixed tonight 😭
    • Sorry to hear this - I hope they get the power back on soon for those affected on a night like tonight.
    • Some houses in Ulverscroft Road and I gather Whateley and Fellbrigg have a power cut. Any other roads?
    • Agree and that is due to the echo-chamber nature of social media algorithms. Previously racists and other idiots wouldn't read stuff in traditional media that echoed their warped mindset but now they feel empowered because they think everyone thinks this and can easily reach those that do share the same ideology. Cast your mind back to how Blackberry Messenger was blamed for its role in the London riots back in 2011. We now have that a thousand times worse.
