YOGA FOR THE BLIND AND PARTIALLY SIGHTED - A LEVELSIX Peckham and BlindAid project

We have Yoga for the Blind and Partially Sighted taking place on Tuesdays, 10.30am - 12noon between 15 January - 5 March 2019 at LEVELSIX Peckham in Peckham Levels. This is an 8 week pilot project funded by BlindAid.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO VOLUNTEER?

Providing yoga classes for this user group means we have to have some extra measures in place to ensure the students have a safe experience with us.

This includes having sighted guide training volunteers on hand to help students safely into the Peckham Levels building and into the studio.

DATES

If you would like to be a volunteer for this pilot project, you need to be available on:

- Friday 11 January, 10am - 12noon for sighted guide training led by BlindAid. This will take place at LEVELSIX Peckham.

- Tuesday mornings (15 January - 5 March) It would be great if you can commit to the full 8 weeks, but not essential - please confirm what you will be able to do. Exact timings for the days will be confirmed soon.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT

Led by Tim Mosley, a trained yoga teacher with a keen interest in running classes for visually impaired people, these will be gentle sessions ideal for blind and partially sighted yogis at beginner-intermediate level.

A slow and steady sequence; simple in style with a focus on sensation and breath. There will be some options for the more experienced student, but on the whole this is a relaxed class with the aim to help you to feel nourished and connected.

WHAT NEXT?

If you would like to join as a volunteer please e-mail Linda Bevan at [email protected] by Friday 4 January at 10am and include your phone number. Linda will be in touch to discuaa arrangements and confirm your participation on this date.

    • Hi there. If you have any half-tins of varnish (or any type of wood finish) that you're not going to use and you would like to get rid of it without dumping it, i can come and collect and will put it to good use.  I am interested in all wood finishes, natural or synthetic, including: varnish, tung oil, Danish oil, teak oil, linseed oil, polyeurathane, acrylic, wood stain, decking oil, deck varnish, yacht varnish, spar varnish, lacquer, beeswax, shellac, etc. (no paint thanks). Let me know what you have and we can agree a pickup time. Also happy to do contactless collection if you prefer to just leave it outside.  Thanks
    • It doesn't need redeveloping.  The skate park is a perfect use.
