I've had two and got both cancelled after a typical moan from me to both Sainsbury's and the car park fine people. They don't put up much of a fight if you were in Sainsbury's and are slow or had a coffee in Starbucks (show the receipt - mine was ?130 - no arguing with that).

Preempted a third last week by going to the kiosk and saying I was staying longer.

I was parked for over two hours a few weeks back. No fine yet, touch wood. Very easy to do when shopping with kids, by the time you've driven down to the parent parking, found the spaces are full of vans, driven back up to the top of the car park to find a wide enough space to get the doors opened, done the usual shop, looked for things that have moved or you don't usually buy (with one eye on the kids), changed a nappy, queued and paid.

I thought it was 3 hours but noticed it had changed to 2 hours a while back. Makes sense if they don't want the car park to be overused on match day.

They send you a nice picture of you driving in and out - I think they're called Horizon Parking.

They will cancel it if you have a receipt to prove you were a customer there.

What's the fact that the manager is a woman got to do with anything?

When i arrived at the car park yesterday,on the black sign that states out your reg plate numbers, you can't see on the sign how long your allowed to park for, (no number of hrs) so you wouln't know how long your allowed to park for in the first place! Silly really! I scene a little deception/poor maintenance here, no wonder people are getting fined. Poor management, can't even spot a obvious error. Sure this is on purpose, otherwise it would clearly say amount of time you can park for. Must be a legal issue too!

Underneath the bit that flashes up your reg plate it says "Your free parking expires at" and flashes up a time.

Plus there are plenty of parking signs all over the carpark that say 2hrs on them. I really don't see what more Sainsbury's should be doing here, they seem far more transparent and reasonable than many other private car park operators.

With Christmas shopping though Im pretty sure I was there longer than 2 hours today. By the time i had parked, shopped, queued at the checkout then packed the car and left etc...I imagine im not the only one either so there?s going to be a lot of tickets issued over the next couple of days...

Yes, was there on the 21st with queues going into the car park, shopping and out again over two hours so will see if I get a ticket! Luckily I still have the receipt.

Not like Morrisons car park at Camberwell where I've had a word with the manager about things but will start another thread on here sometime!

It currently doesn't. https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,1843506#msg-1843951

Oh fair enough. I think they still don't bother to chase though, they just loudly threaten and their business is based around shaking as much money out of people as quickly as possible. I'd still ignore to be honest, and family members who have ignored have never seen any follow up.

    • Time will tell if H&B are loved or loathed, the footfall they get and generate will determine if they stay or go. That's the nature of businesses, they come and go dependant on usage. Examples are M&S, Poundland Local, Co-op, Superdrug, Mons, the chain restaurant/takeaways, the chain Estate Agents, Toolstation, Screwfix to name a few.  As much as people would like to see Lordship Lane remain a high street of independents, it is becoming clear that due to Landlords hiking rents, some are unable to survive. This leaves empty units which some of the chain brands considering it to be worth a "punt". I'd have thought that businesses operating in shops is a better alternative than a high street with multiple empty units, but what do I know, they are just thoughts on the subject.   Take a look at Croydon and Bromley where what were once thriving high streets are in decline.  I have to say that some of the prices charged by the independents are eye watering, and incomes i'd have thought have to be substantial to afford their prices. Personally I'd love a Lidl to open on what was the site of the Harvester, but I guess that would get shouted down, oh the thought of Lidl in Dulwich. Whatever next.
    • IMO, Sealy, the best nights sleep you'll ever have.
    • I don’t know what the shop was originally next to the big St Christopher’s but if Holland and Barrett are taking it over then surely it’s good to have a choice on Lordship Lane? The Camberwell H&B is always empty but the Brixton branch busy.  I remember when the Marks & Spencer food shop was Iceland? Now the M&S is a very busy store and at the time regenerated the high street!
    • Nor would I have done, but it came up when I googled John Lewis reviews. Do you not trust TrustPilot reviews? Even allowing for the fact that many people only post reviews when they have had poor service, 27% one star reviews is indicative of something wrong, I would say. That's 27% of 76,392 reviews. That's an awful lot of people who don't  think the service they got from John Lewis was even worth two stars, let alone more. Screenshot attached.
