My struggle with the devil cat continues (see posts passim). Last night I dozed off on the sofa, to be awoken by screeching EEEEWWWWWWAAAUUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!! about a foot from my ear.

I awoke in terror then realised what it was, hurtled after it down the stairs but it was gone. Either it went through the cat flap at 110mph or it is a phantom and went straight through the door. It was dark, it's a black cat.

The whole house reeks of tomcat piss.

This wasn't just trespassing, this was a deliberate challenge to my manhood and I think the mittens are off now.

If the devil cat was a man, I'd be entitled to tackle it with extreme prejudice wouldn't I?

Assuming I ever catch it, am I allowed to shut its head in the door? Is there any alternative?

BAD BAD NO, Huguenot.

Poor Steveo. If tom is getting in at night, it might be a good idea to close your cat flap in the evenings if possible. Alternatively, try to trap him {although ferals can be lethal you might want to consider getting someone who can}. You can contact the Celia Hammond Animal Trust www.celiahammond.org for advice. Their email address is [email protected] & telephone number 0208 694 6545.

can second the microchip catflap, we had awful problems with a tom coming into our house, spraying and attacking our cats when we weren't in. We were seriously thinking of trapping it and handing into a rescue centre for them to neuter (or getting hold of an air gun and shooting the little f**ker) but went for the catflap, the moment when it chased one of our cats into the house and then crashed into the shut catflap was a happy happy occasion. Rarely seen it since.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have the same problem with a huge hairy ginger unneutered male devil cat coming in and pissing all over the house. I too tried shutting the catflap, but also came down in the morning to a hole in the door.

Do you think they might be related?

Are the microchipped doors any sturdier? Any advice out there on which is the best to get?

That or I'll be borrowing the crossbow off RosieH...

    • There's been a spate of phone snatching around East Dulwich station and along Lordship Lane. But don't let that put you off the area, these things come and go. I've never had an issue late at night in the areas you talk about and I've been around here for 18yrs (before I moved I had the same concerns as you). Go visit your areas late at night at different times for your own peace of mind (I did)
    • Posted September 20, 202Hello all Hello all Just a quick message to say I've just had a job postponed so I have some time available to do some work for you if you should need a painter around the end of the month. I also do a variety of other jobs too so if anyone needs a handyman, please feel free to get in touch. Happy to do a free quote. Thanks for reading
    • So sorry to hear this. Our bike was stolen from outside Dulwich Library earlier this month. We had a D Lock and they still got through. Probably the same person who’s just cruising up and down the lane. I hope you find it.
    • Hi, I would like to raise some awareness around East Dulwich especially on Lordship lane.  Today my bike electric bike was stolen from in front of my house between the hours of 9:00 and 10:45. If anyone see anything I would be very grateful.  Please do not use a chain lock to lock your bike. Preferably a d-lock. My bike was double locked with two chains and they still manage to take it. Be careful and be aware of Thief.  Here are some pictures of my bike. If you see or hear anything I would really appreciate it.
