pommie
We are expecting our second daughter on 9 march and I am really struggling to think of a name for her. Our 3 year old is called Amber Elizabeth (middle name my mums name) and my partner wants to use his mums middle name for this one so the middle name will be susannah.I have the following so far:-MadisonMaisiePoppyScarlettZara Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21299-did-anyone-struggle-with-names-for-baby-number-2/ Share on other sites
snowboarder
Do you want an opinion on your names? I really like Zara. Not Madison. The others I do like but more for little girls, can't imagine them as grown up women names!Having 2 boys my girls name lists go on and on! Mrs TP
From your list I like Poppy and Maisie, again not Madison - just not keen on anything that could also perhaps be a surname. Not planning on having any more myself but if I did I quite like Betsy or Patsy but maybe too many S sounds with the Susannah oh also like Annie - v. traditional name but not bumped into any little Annies in ED. Good luck with the pregnancy and have fun with the name choosing. pommie
i also quite liked Betty as that seems to be getting more common and it was my mums first name.So stumped as in what to call baby, maybe will just have to wait until she is here to see what suits her Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21299-did-anyone-struggle-with-names-for-baby-number-2/#findComment-512459 Share on other sites
Ruth_Baldock
We struggled with names we could agree on. In the end we went with Alexa Ruby; Ruby being my 'name' (have never been called Ruth by my family in my life! Was a ruby all through school too...)Now, I don't LOVE the name Alexa, but I seriously adore the shortening Lex, so thats what I call her ;)Other names we considered:RioScoutDinaIsabelleImogenEsmeAdrianaFWIW, we decided on her name when i was about 6mo pregnant and she suits alexa/lex down to the ground. My friend named her daughter something quite unusual and it suits her so so so well, you'd think the name was made especially for her! millsa
Just wait and see what she looks like. We struggled a lot because I've always wanted Elena but a few months before my Elena was due, my husban's sister called her daughter Eleanor and he didn't want a name that sounds so similar. I decided to wait and see the baby and if she looked like Elena to me, I would still call her Elena. But then just before the birth someone mentioned a name Liliana which I loved immediately, so when my baby finally arrived she looked just like Liliana :) We have shortened it for now but maybe when she is older she will be Liliana - I second snowboarder here that it is useful to think what the name will sound when they are adults.I also like Anna - so beautiful and simple.Good luck! ps. Zara was also on my list but when a few people said: 'oh Zara, like the shop?' I decided against it. millsa
but i guess Liliana Susannah doesn't go very well together :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21299-did-anyone-struggle-with-names-for-baby-number-2/#findComment-512472 Share on other sites
sillywoman
Maisie Susannah is pretty. Isn't Betty a contraction of Elizabeth? Might that have potential to cause problems with Daughter 1 - "It's my name" kind of thing? gwod
Really struggled with names for the youngest children as I have 4 girls....so nearly stole no. 3's middle name back from her to give to no 4 as a first name...luckily thought of one for her at the last minute! So glad I only gave my elsest one middle name as if they'd all had two I would have been truly stuck by the end.
