I am helping to establish a new group (Hummy Mummies choir, currently running in East Dulwich on Mondays at Christ Church) and would like to pick peoples' brains please about their preferred timings for sessions that run in the afternoons. My instinct is that 2.30-3.30pm is the most universally suitable slot, to avoid clashing with naptime, but some mothers have said that their children sleep until 3pm. I can only dream of such a happening in this household but I am told that this is quite routine for some blessed parents.

I would like to get a feel for the common consensus - would 2pm or 2.30pm be achievable? And would you even be interested in an afternoon activity? We are struggling to find venues with space for us in the mornings but Hummy Mummies is a little different from the myriad of child-focussed classes out there, as it is actually first and foremost for the mother herself to enjoy; even though the children seem to be having a ball too. An afternoon session would therefore leave her free to attend her usual morning, child-focussed sessions.

I do hope that this is a suitable place to ask such questions; I am aware that it is business-related, but you are all so good at giving honest feedback that I was hoping people would volunteer their thoughts please. Thank you in advance for any posts.

I would love to come along to Hummy Mummies, as I can't do the existing time, but 2.30 would be too early for me. 3.30 would be better, my daughter normally sleeps till about 3 so would give enough time to get out and to wherever you'd be holding the choir, I'm guessing you'd be Dulwich way and we're in Peckham.

It would be great to have something on in the afternoon, especially in the winter! On a purely selfish note if it could be Weds or Thurs even better!

(PS, napping till around 3 seems the norm among the few mothers I know)

Agree, would love to come to this class but couldnt do the morning session due to naps. Afternoon for most people would be 330 to allow time to make it to the class.

Please let us know once you have afternoon classes planned. If they are at 330, then count me in!

Oh my goodness I see I have been short changed severely by my two year old in the nap department. Thank you all so much for your input, watch this space as following on from your helpful comments we shall try to run a 3.30-4.30pm Hummy Mummies session in East Dulwich, in addition to the Monday morning group. Agree there is no pleasing everyone but this does seem to be the most suitable slot. There is also an afternoon group starting in West Dulwich from February too, if anyone is interested. Thank you again for your posts.

    • Southwark Council Parking Enforcement Corrupt Practices   Today, Southwark Council Parking Enforcement is illegally giving parking tickets to cars that are legally parked on Stradella Road at the end near to Halfmoon Lane.   Firstly, there are several bays at the beginning of Stradella Road that have no parking suspension sign.     Cars are parking legally and are being given parking tickets illegally.   Southwark Council Parking Enforcement officers have been made aware of this illegal behaviour and shown that they are no parking suspension notices in those bays and or in that part of the road; however, they continue to issues tickets illegally and cars continue to park in those bays unaware that they are (apparently) suspended because there is no notice to say such, in fact there is a notice to say 1hr parking between 8:30am and 6pm.   Further up Stradella Road, approximately 250+ metres, several cars were legally parked and there were no parking suspension notices; however, they were illegally issued with parking tickets. Subsequently, an agent for Southwark Council was putting up parking suspension notices in this part of the road at around 1:30-2pm but only after the legally parked cars had been illegally issued with illegal car parking tickets to try and make it look legal. This is clearly a deeply corrupt scam being undertaken by Southwark Council and its agents. It has been separately reported to the police, local councillors and the local MP. It will also be reported to Southwark Council, however, they are uncontactable until next week. Similar corrupt and illegal behaviour by Southwark Parking enforcement officers was also clearly identified in Halfmoon Lane.   It is quite likely to have occurred in other adjacent roads. Photographic and video evidence of these corrupt practices have been provided to the police to investigate and root out corruption in Southwark Council.

    • Hello My husband bought and sold CDs but is no longer trading. I auctioned off all his collection of records and CDs 2/3 years ago. He had a lot of new CD jewel cases and trays which I’ve been trying to sell off cheaply on this forum… Unsuccessful! I just want them gone now as I was asked by  a shop to count them up and they are cluttering up the hallway. I’ve just had cataract surgery and not advised to lift stuff… I have: 200 CD clear cases with black trays 30 orange CD cases with orange trays  75 black double CD cases with black trays  240 CD clear cases 650 black CD trays  65 clear CD trays Also 3/4 boxes of new DVD cases,  Let me know if you’d like to collect any of the above free. You can give a donation to cancer charity if you like!  kind regards  Eleanor
