Helicopter around east dulwich

I can't help wondering about the cost effectiveness of using helicopters ,especially since it seems ( I might be wrong ) not infrequent around here .

I wonder if there are records showing how often helicopter use results in catching the criminal ?

It was related to a house in Upland Road - apparently one person apprehended (not sure what for) and one got away. There were police everywhere, but all seems quiet now.

I once visited the copper chopper base in West Yorkshire when I was a member of Round Table and they said they never launch unless there is an extremely strong reason for so doing. They know they have to justify the costs to the taxpayer. As one of the Round table members was a part of the Yorkshire equivalent to CO19 we got shown some CCTV stuff that was a bit more sensitive than the car chases you see on Police, Camera, Action. It could well be that today's operation might be one of those.

As I crossed the junction of Friern and Underhill at 7.20 this morning, there were armed police (do they all carry guns nowadays - I must be getting old) stationed at intervals down Friern Road, and police dogs looking in front gardens...

Any more news on this? Was quite surprised to see 5 police cars and 2 riot vans racing down Barry road this morning at 6.30 on my way to work.

The helicopter seems to have been particularly busy over our garden this weekend and at this very early minute on a Monday morning. A little disconcerting and certainly no Ocado delivery in sight yet. What can it see that we can't, given it is still dark?!
