El Pibe
Well La Piba recovered the Stratford station project single handedly a few years ago and I know at least 4 people in the ODA including the head of HR, so I've had a lot of inside info over the last few years and they've all always said progress was positive so I'd be very surprised if I said that, but trawl away, wouldn't be the first time I'd been proved wrong.*see post above re murray* Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21206-predictions-for-2012/page/3/#findComment-576305 Share on other sites

Otta
Oh dear, that is sad. Not really my kind of place, but a nice place all the same, and decent people. Even if I did think the whole argument with the shop next door a few years ago was a bit badly handled.Best of luck to them. How long until all the beloved independents opf East Dulwich are priced out of business by greedy landlords? Mick Mac
"And then there are the customers who not only became friends but at times, quite literally saved us to ensure that we lived on to fight another day. Foremost in this cherished group is of course Lawyer Liz. The drains crisis would have been the end of us if she had not swooped in at a time when our energy and resources for the fight were critically low. She made the last 4 years considerably easier than they otherwise would have been and, like everyone I have been lucky enough to work closely with, made it fun. Even in the very darkest moments. Liz ? I hope you know how deeply all of us will always appreciate this."Edited to say - Quote from website.. Ridgley
More of the 40s spirit make do and mend, as the cost of living rises more people have to be more frugal in what they spend. *Bob*
That's a shame. If they'd have got the food bit nailed I suppose things might have been different. Isla
What a shame but at least we still have the spuriously named book club.Predictions for what will replace the current shop space? W***r**e? StraferJack
how in gods name would you fit a Waitrose of any size in there?Anyway, we can assume the usage will be like for like so some other bar/restaurant... objectively I could see Pizza Express being quite keenNot that I would be for that - but you can bet landlords are looking for a chain Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21206-predictions-for-2012/page/3/#findComment-600527 Share on other sites
LondonMix
Oh, that is too bad. I agree they really didn't get the food right though which is critical. With so much choice around here, you kind of have to nail everything. Ted Max
A shame about G&B. Just to add, completely redundantly but because I am a few units to the weekend already, I will not join in any nascent "oh great a non-austerity over-priced business selling over-priced luxury goods is going under" shite.I didn't love everything about G&B but would I rather it existed than did not? The former. Did it "add value" to my life? Yes, because there was a local place I knew I could buy some different, but generally always good, bottles of wine - when I could afford it. That is all. Jeremy
I'll miss it. I didn't go there that often, as most of the wine I buy tends to be cheap and cheerful. But it was the perfect place to buy presents for wine loving friends/relatives, and a nice space for a glass of wine and a bite to eat occasionally. And it was one of the unique businesses that differentiates us from other parts of London. El Pibe
I thought it rather lost focus on its strengths when it went in a foodie direction, and in its last incarnation the shop seemed an afterthought, so it lived and died by the restaurant offering, which sadly didn't seem to take this time round.I'll miss it a lot :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21206-predictions-for-2012/page/3/#findComment-600581 Share on other sites
