bawdaleb
Bit of a weird one, but could anyone pleeeease temporarily adopt my potted plants over the holidays?I'm overseas for 4 weeks and I don't want to leave my 4 plants in the hands of my flatmate who let them die last time!I've looked at watering systems but having 4 might get a bit costly! rendelharris
Google "DIY plant watering systems", loads of weird, wonderful and effective (and flatmate-proof) cheap/free ideas out there. Sue
Depending on what they are, I doubt I they will die in four weeks at this time of year!ETA: More plants die from overwatering than underwatering! IlonaM
I use watering globes when I go away (similar to: https://www.gardenista.com/posts/10-easy-pieces-glass-watering-bulbs/).I was able to buy six colourful ones on Querkity for a decent price sometime ago and they work a treat. You can also find them on Amazon and Ebay. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/211896-temporary-plant-adoption/#findComment-1298954 Share on other sites
Sue
What are your plants, bawdaleb ? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/211896-temporary-plant-adoption/#findComment-1299020 Share on other sites
Asset
I agree with Sue, unless they are particularly plants that require vast amounts of water (not many) they should be quite happy if kept in a cool place and given a good soak before you go. bawdaleb
Thank you! They look easy enough to set up. Might be the way to go! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/211896-temporary-plant-adoption/#findComment-1299334 Share on other sites
bawdaleb
Thank you all for the advice. I have a peace lily, spider plant, aloe, and a snake plant. Hopefully they will survive! The peace lily usually comes back to life with a bit of water :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/211896-temporary-plant-adoption/#findComment-1299335 Share on other sites
Sue
Peace lilies are practically indestructible :))So are spider plants and aloes.Don't know about the other one, but there's no way the first three won't survive neglect for a month at this time of year!
