Strawbs
HiI have recently changed to dr browns a couple of days ago and notice when I pur the formula and go to shake it leaks as if it's too hot.. Does that normally happen? Didn't happen with the avent..Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21092-dr-brown-bottles-leaking/ Share on other sites
Sanne Panne
Happens with Born Free too and they are suspiciously similar. And after a few months of intensive use some will leak even when lukewarm. Yak
We had the same with avent, to be honest . I found it happened less if all bits were cool before assembling. mammamia
We found this too sometimes with dr browns bottles and decided that it either happened if too hot or bizarrely if the White teat holder bit (am sure there is probably a correct name for that bit!?!) was screwed too tight. If it leaks when you shake it seemed to stop leaking if you just undo then redo the parts.. swagstar
Its the water pressure apparently, when it's too hot as it travels up the blue thing. I always found that if I put hot water in and screwed the lid on properly it leaked right out. You need to put the bottles into cold water immediately to avoid... new mother
Undo and empty the funnel thing. Do not heat it up when the top is screwed on tight. It takes a while to get the exact knack but is well worth it. Zero colic or crying or wind from my ch. Who were exclusively bottle fed. new mother
Strawb, I have just read your other post re colic. Dr browns special bottles do help with this and I think you should stick to them over other types despite the leaking issue. It did really annoy me till I realised I was causing it and could fix it. Anything better than a crying baby. The other thing that gives colicky babies relief is to hold them upside down along your arm, one leg on each side, and swing them (gently!). It seems to force air out of their little tummies and they love it. hellosailor
Strawbs it happens most when the water is very hot as others have said, so helps to let it cool down in the kettle first.I use doctor browns and I don't shake the bottle when I add the formula, I stir it vigorously with a spoon for a few seconds instead. new mother
Haha, yes exactly. Facing the floor. The alternative would be guaranteed to increase the crying....I also swore by holding them up fairly straight (head supported obviously) on the basis everything would work its way down more easily. High scientific as youcan see. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21092-dr-brown-bottles-leaking/#findComment-510594 Share on other sites
