The Market Porter in Borough Market has a lovely dining room upstairs with reasonably priced quality food, much of it sourced from the market itself. If you happen to have any kids amongst your guests they will be mighty impressed by the fact that the pub featured in a Harry Potter film!

Cheap as chips

On London bridge station, West Cornwall Pasty Co, a bottle of wine from M & S, and a lovely view down by the Thames. With Scottish woollen rug wrapped around yourselves on a romantic night in London watching the boats on tut Thames.

I go to Mango off Borough Market quite a lot - great if you're in the mood for a (slightly) fancy Indian. A bit pricy but the food's quite rich so you don't necessarily need starters and side dishes.

Also agree with Captain Marvel and JoeLeg on Champor Champor, great restaurant.

Jose and Brindisa... yes both v good, but personally I hate queuing for restaurants, so I can't really be arsed. Lobos is another really good tapas place nearby, that thankfully do actually take reservations.

Elliots is nice. Applebees, if you like fish.
