"I worked in zeitgeist the original gift shop in old town."

I've been around a bit, but have been in ED by far the longest now. I lived in Fulham for a couple of years and used to go into the original Zeitgeist in Fulham Road, and then it opened up in Clapham, about the time I went to live in Clapaham South. This was when the Two Brewers was the busiest pub in Clapham High Street and there seemed to be nothing but boarded up shops, junk shops and one shop unit that was a left-wing political party (can't remember which) HQ between there and Clapham North station. So different now, but then so is ED.

First there was a big Sainsburys, then the plot about 500 yds away became available (that was suitable for a small supermarket), so Sainsburys bought in order to stop Tescos buying it. Then the plot of the old garage between the two became available so Tescos bought that. It's a war out there.

It certainly is, but I just don't understand how they can get away with saturating an areas to keep out the competition. I guess a Sainburys Local has different hours than the big store on the Clapham bus garage site, and because of that is able to stay open longer on Sundays. Oh and there's now the big Tesco at Clapham South, which I've never been in yet.

Met a guy walking down from Clapham

Said... where you going my friend?

He said theres something going on down south

Past the tube trains end

I heard about the fancy butchers and the herbal remedies

A place where I can rest my soul, maybe start a family

And with the planting of new trees and a rather nice deli

He realised.......he had an East Dulwich Bag

East Dulwich Bag

When the East London Line extension happens Clapham will be one stop from Denmark Hill.

Denmark Hill is in Camberwell but it does have a good relationship with East Dulwich being the location of one of ED's most important train stations.

In the future all of ED and Clapham will meet in the Phoenix for a pint of Pimms.

I think it's still proposed but is currently unfunded.

There is a section on southwark's website where you can register your support for the project. See here

With the Olympics, crossrail etc I wouldn't be surprised if it never happens

    • My husband is currently a full-time carer for our two disabled children, and he’s keen to get back into paid work where he can fit it around our family needs. He’s immediately available and looking for local handyman work — from snagging and DIY jobs to gardening or general fixing-up. He’s capable, practical, and reliable, with plenty of hands-on experience restoring and maintaining, including with heritage/listed properties. If you have a to-do list you never quite get to, or need help with those annoying finishing touches, he’d be happy to help. Please drop him a message if you’d like to chat or check availability. 07968345884
    • Unfortunately Nissan was a disaster of a company when it created your car and still is, and most recently created another combined disaster alliance with Renault. Be aware, the trade value on your car is really low as no one wants to do the work & it's often only when it reaches near scrap value that someone (else) is willing to invest (their money) to try and fix. So if you're willing to front the money and fix your car that (you know) then that is most likely your best option (also understanding that it is outrageous that you should have to replace a CVT gearbox after 50K). If that isn't appealing consider a new Skoda Fabia 1.0 (Auto) on finance if you can't afford cash, it will last 20yrs.... (and avoid cars from the Stellantis group)
    • If you are referring to me, I was using my mobile. Just quoting the post I was replying to would have made no sense without showing my original post as well. I wouldn't have been able to do that on a "real PC" either, assuming I carried one around with me everywhere. It's nothing to do with what I'm using, it's the way the forum is set up to quote posts. I did insert a screenshot showing the keyboard by mistake.
