I appreciate these are usually family run businesses and only until 2/3pm.Thank you Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/210136-pubs-open-on-xmas-day/ Share on other sites

Pugwash
The cost of food on Christmas Day is very expensive and unless you have in excess of ?50 per head available - just go in for a drink. Many years ago, parents in law (now deceased) invited hubby and I to a local hotel restaurant for a Christmas Lunch on Christmas Day. Our youngest child was not yet born (so this is around 32 years ago) There were so many diners and slow service meant that we did not get dessert as the taxis booked arrived. I remember hearing that the meal was ?25 per head - an exorbitant price for the era. Since then, we have never been out for a Christmas or New Years Eve meal. Elphinstone's Army
Gaynor Hill Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> The plough> Went last year good price and excellent foodWe had Christmas lunch here two years ago after just moving 3 days before, and 'recommended' to eat here although we had our reservations. This was truly the most disgusting mess on a plate ever - ?50 each in advance - no ambience, atmosphere, just a plate of dry overcooked food shoved at us, very upsetting. We pushed it around the plate, could not believe this was served as a mid winter feast - walked home and made food.On leaving we were chased out by a barman who insisted we had not paid our bar bill - we said, we havn't had a tab, we have no bar bill? We have not had drinks at the bar? What a shamblesThis was the one and only time we attempted to eat out for Christmas lunch ; never again, we enjoy our own cooking/quality food too muchHow dare they charge so much for such pigswill and indeed, how dare they serve pigswill.Gaynor - honestly, this is a review which should never have been writtenSue - this made me laugh Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/210136-pubs-open-on-xmas-day/#findComment-1295028 Share on other sites

And it wasn't cheap. And yes I complained, but I did feel sorry for the person serving us such rubbish :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/210136-pubs-open-on-xmas-day/#findComment-1295053 Share on other sites
