You do need the cocoon when the baby is younger, it lasts for about 9 months depending on the size of the baby. After that you can either get the bugaboo branded footmuff or a lot of other brand footmuffs like buggy snuggles also fit perfectly well on the bee. You can buy a good condition cocoon on here or on eBay for about 25 or 30 quid.

we had the coccon (borrowed from a friend) but it didn't last anything like 9 months, our daughter was sitting pretty upright at around 4-5 months and the cocoon only works when they're horizontal. I would try and beg/borrow/steal a cocoon and buy the footmuff (or any footmuff that fits) - we're still using the footmuff at age 2 so that's worth the full price.

We tried to save money on the footmuff and got a cheaper version that never fitted properly. In hindsight I would have just shelled out the ???. They're not cheap but it is something that you use a couple of times, every single days so I guess if you do a "cost per use" it all works out!

    • The Oxfam shop refusal may be because they have very limited storage space at the back of their very small shop?
    • I agree. The staff are always lovely!
    • Hi, does anyone know anything about the generator that seems to run from 7am every day in the car park of Dominic Court off The Gardens? I live in a property that backs on to that car park and it’s incredibly noisy and fumey. It’s been there for a long time now and it looks like it’s powering a site office for construction workers. Does anyone have any information about how long it will be there for, and who is operating it? I worry about the quality of the air as it’s like having a truck running constantly. And it’s very annoying to have it rumbling all day.
    • Most charity shops will take rags for textile recycling. I’ve also donated to Christopher’s, Shelter on LL and Scope in Camberwell. The only one I’ve known to refuse is the Oxfam in Herne Hill.
